Historia
Mafatu's name means Stout Heart, but the people of Hikueru call him a coward. He fears the sea and the powerful Sea God Moana because years ago, the powerful tides killed his mother. Such fear is shameful on this island, but it is especially humiliating for Mafatu, whose father reigns as Great Chief of Hikueru. One day, young Mafatu can no longer stand the jeers and taunts of the braver boys. With his faithful dog, Uri, he steals an outrigger canoe and paddles into the Polynesian sea to conquer his fear.

Still as good as when I read it as a kid
Revisado: 01-17-25
'Call It Courage" is an epic tale of a boy's struggle with his own fear. This coming-of-age story is relatable no matter what century it is read or listened to because we all must face our fears to become what we were meant to be. It is well worth the listen.

Recorder
Revisado: 11-03-24
Recorder by Cathy McCrumb is a science fiction book with strong science and memorable characters. I was a little apprehensive when I first started listening to the book because it was a little slow taking off. But the storyline and characters drew me in. I like how each chapter is a journal/log entry and Cathy McCrumb does a great job of giving background information about the secondary characters throughout the book. The story is suspenseful and it leaves the reader guessing if enemies will become friends and friends enemies.

The Final Chapter
Revisado: 06-12-24
Connor and Kara are being hunted by the armies of the dragons because of their bloodlines while the rest of the Lightraider cadets work to stop the dragons from penetrating deeper into Keledev.
With masterful storytelling and skilled intertwining of Scripture, James R. Hannibal did an amazing job of wrapping up the series. This trilogy has become an instant favorite and I enjoyed every moment of it. I recommend these books whenever I can.
The audiobooks for the series are narrated by Adam Verner and I could not think of a better narrator. He did a stupendous job. These books are a must read or listen. The only thing I did not like was the story ended. I hope James R. Hannibal writes more stories so we find out what happened to these rich characters.

Mooses with Bazookas: And Other Stories Children Should Never Read is a fun collection of stories. It’s exactly like The Count of Monte Cristo apart from the many differences. Our lawyers have instructed us to warn you that listening to it may directly cause you to come down with every single disease you are worried about contracting. On the plus side, our nation’s beloved and heroic critics have had their say.

I enjoyed reading Mooses With Bazookas and enjoyed listening even more. The stories and letters are masterfully written and entertain with a delightful collection of verbal twists and turns. I love pun an wordplay and this book is filled with them both. Five Stars and well worth the time to listen and/or read. Check it out!

Neverqueen 2: An Epic Sequel
Revisado: 01-30-24
Neverqueen 2 starts with the events before Wizard Turser's death. The evil wizard wanted a male heir and when one was born to him, he rejected him, trying to kill him. Valor rejected the evil influence of his father and chose to serve the Creator. Left by Turser to die or starvation, Valor thinks all hope is lost. But Violet (the main character from Neverqueen 1) appeared in his tower prison and rescues him. But instead of a life of peace, Valor encounters one form of bondage after another. Will his life of suffering ever end? Will Violet's quest to rid the land of evil sorcery succeed when she encounters one obstacle after another?
I enjoyed this book. Scott Appleton does a good job of creating believable and relatable characters in a rich world. This page turner will leave you on the edge of your seat. I look forward to Neverqueen 3. Hopefully it will come out soon.

An Epic End
Revisado: 01-09-24
“Sir Rowan and the Camerian Conquest” by Chuck Black is an epic end to the Knights of Arrithtrae series.
Sir Rowan grew up a pauper and worked in a stable. But he had a knack for the sword. A knight of the Prince trained him and instead of being dedicated to the Prince, he won fame and fortune as a tournament knight. But when he was captured by bandits, he must come to grips with his failure. He learns that the Prince has chosen him for a mission so great that no other Knight of the Prince or Silent Warrior could complete it.
This book alludes to Revelation 11 and the two witnesses Jesus sent before He returned to set up His kingdom on Earth.
As usual, this book is well written and captivates the reader. The audiobook has a cast of narrators and sound effects that enhance the listening experience. If you haven’t read either Arrithtrae series, I strongly encourage you to do so.

This Book Hit Home
Revisado: 01-07-24
I finished "Sir Quinlan and the Swords of Valor" by Chuck Black. This book hit me more than any other of the series. Sir Quinlan’s story is similar to my own. Quinlan committed himself completely to the Prince. But when his mistake had devastating consequences, he believed he had messed up so much he could never be used by the Prince. Quinlan has to face his self pity and learns the truth of 1 John 1:9 (NKJV) “If we confess our sins, He is faithful and just to forgive us our sins and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness.”
For anyone who messed up and believe the lie that it’s over, this book is for you.

Sir Dalton, a knight in training, seems to have everything going for him. Young, well-liked, and a natural leader, he has earned the respect and admiration of his fellow knights, as well as the beautiful Lady Brynn. But something is amiss at the training camp. Their new trainer is popular but lacks the passion to inspire them to true service to the King and the Prince.

"Being relevant" Makes You Powerless Against Evil
Revisado: 01-02-24
There is a popular teaching in the Christian Church today that says it should change to "be relevant" by changing the gospel of Jesus to not challenge disciples of Jesus to live holy and pursue Jesus above all else. The Bible is not the unadulterated Word of God and is not the final authority in all matters.
"Sir Dalton and the Shadow Heart" addresses this teaching and shows how it makes the Knights of the Prince powerless against the Shadow Warriors. Sir Dalton has been taught philosophy instead of the sword. When he is easily defeated by Shadow Warrior Lord Drox, he must come to get grips with his own lack of devotion to the Prince. Will he escape from Lord Drox's prison or is Lord Drox correct and Dalton is nothing but a foolish knave who will never amount to anything?

Lady Carliss
Revisado: 01-02-24
Lady Carliss and the Waters of Moorue picks up where Sir Dalton and the Shadow Heart left off. Lady Carliss tries to get away from Sir Dalton only to be with him when he is stung by a poisonous esca lizard. She must face an impenetrable swamp filled with thousands of eaca lizards in search of the mythical swamp lily. She must find it and return to Sir Dalton in nine days or he will die a painfully gruesome death. But the swamp is also protected by Shadow Warriors and three castles. All hope seems lost. Will she be able to save the Knights of the Prince held captive by the Shadow Warriors and Sir Dalton or will she have to decide who lives and who dies?
This allegory addresses the topics of unrequited love, the destructive effects of drugs, and God's provision.
Like all the audiobooks in this series, the mixture of music, sound effects, and narration combined for a captivating listen.

Sir Kendrick - Medieval Obi Wan and Anakin
Revisado: 12-29-23
I enjoyed listening to Sir Kendrick and the Castle of Bel Lione. Seasoned Sir Kendrick is assigned Sir Duncan, an impetuous and brash young knight of the Prince, to be his apprentice. They are sent on a mission to find out where a growing group of evil knights is located. I loved the dynamic and relationship between the two knights. It reminded me of Obi-Wan Kenobi and Anakin Skywalker. Sir Kendrick is the wise older mentor trying to impart wisdom to the young zealous apprentice.
This book keeps you on the edge of your seat and wondering if the two knights will survive the deadly ordeal they have stumbled into. A must read!
