Historia
In this satirical faux autobiography, Moll Flanders, abandoned at birth, sets her rebellious heart on a life of independence in late 17th-century England. A strong-willed woman, she is determined to make a better life for herself, no matter what it takes: thievery, prostitution, seductions, marriages, or illicit liaisons. Born to a convicted felon in Newgate prison Moll learns to live off her wits, refusing to be a helpless victim and defying most traditional depictions of women of the era.

Historia
A Raw Youth (sometimes translated as The Adolescent) is a most chaotic and for non-Russians one of the more confusing of Dostoevsky’s major novels, Crime and Punishment, The Idiot, The Possessed and The Brothers Karamazov. Dostoevsky assumed his readers were familiar with the intellectual debates from the 1840s through the 1860s, when dramatic changes, the liberation of the serfs and liberal idealism gave way to anarchism and terrorism. The first person narrator, Arkady, describes his coming of age, his self doubts, his emerging sensuality and his search for roots in family. It is as it ...

Difficult to listen to
Revisado: 01-25-25
The narration is auto generated, so the intonation and rhythm of the language is off. There are also mispronunciations throughout. Also, the voices of the various characters are exactly the same, which is confusing.

Historia
Verging on death, a starving, destitute writer navigates the cold and indifferent city of Kristiania in search of his next meal. Frenzied and fevered, he chews on stale bread, devours scraps of wood, and bites his own finger, sleeping under the stars in old, pungent blankets, until one day he is able to sell an article and buy some food - only for the cycle then to repeat itself....

Fantastic reading!

I loved the narrator! He brought the characters to life. Also the story feels very contemporary considering it was written in the 1800s. It is well worth a listen.
