Eye Opening Discussion of Islamic Terrorism
Revisado: 06-14-17
I purchased this book right after the recent Manchester bombing to try to wrap my head around this Issue. I found this book quite detailed and extremely interesting. The author takes us from 9/11 up to the end of 2016. I agree with the reviewer that commented that they needed to start a Carrie-like (Homeland) string org chart on their living room wall to track these characters. The bottom line is that a handful of bad guys have caused thousands of deaths and massive destruction.
I certainly wish the solution was as simple as the peace accord that resolved the issues in Northern Ireland as the author suggests, but I have my doubts. Our grandchildren will be dealing with these problems.
Listen to the book and get educated. The last 16 years have not brought a resolution to this problem.

Historia
How did Davy Crockett save President Jackson's life only to end up dying at the Alamo? Was the Lone Ranger based on a real lawman-and was he an African American? What amazing detective work led to the capture of Black Bart, the "gentleman bandit" and one of the west's most famous stagecoach robbers? Did Butch Cassidy and the Sundance Kid really die in a hail of bullets in South America? Generations of Americans have grown up on TV shows, movies and books about these western icons. But what really happened in the Wild West? All the stories you think you know, and others that will astonish you, are here--some heroic, some brutal and bloody, all riveting. Included are the ten legends featured in Bill O'Reilly's Legends and Lies docuseries -from Kit Carson to Jesse James, Wild Bill Hickok to Doc Holliday-- accompanied by two bonus chapters on Daniel Boone and Buffalo Bill and Annie Oakley.

Good book but after several chapters all of the characters blend into one. Could have been shorter. I liked the performance.

Historia
The anchor of The O'Reilly Factor recounts one of the most dramatic stories in American history - how one gunshot changed the country forever. In the spring of 1865, the bloody saga of America's Civil War finally comes to an end after a series of increasingly harrowing battles. President Abraham Lincoln's generous terms for Robert E. Lee's surrender are devised to fulfill Lincoln's dream of healing a divided nation. But one man and his band of murderous accomplices are not appeased....

Historia
D-Day is approaching. They don’t know where or when, but the Germans know it’ll be soon, and for Felicity "Flick" Clariet, the stakes have never been higher. A senior agent in the ranks of the Special Operations Executive (SOE) responsible for sabotage, Flick has survived to become one of Britain’s most effective operatives in Northern France. She knows that the Germans’ ability to thwart the Allied attack depends upon their lines of communications, and in the days before the invasion, no target is of greater strategic importance than the largest telephone exchange in Europe.

Great Action and Adventure set in WW II
Revisado: 01-07-13
Would you listen to Jackdaws again? Why?
I would listen again as the book is fast paced and there are some details I missed in my first listen. I listened almost start to finish in a day.
What was one of the most memorable moments of Jackdaws?
The 2nd attack on the communication station was very good. You felt like you were there in the action.
What about Barbara Rosenblat and Colin Stinton ’s performance did you like?
I liked that the two narrators switched off so that it had a more realistic feel like a movie.
Did you have an extreme reaction to this book? Did it make you laugh or cry?
Several situations where there was torture definitely were upsetting.

Historia
The engrossing, often scandalous saga of one of the wealthiest, longest-lasting, and most colorful family dynasties in the history of American commerce—a cautionary tale about prosperity, profligacy, hubris, and the blessings and dark consequences of success. This engrossing, vivid narrative captures the Busch saga through five generations. At the same time, it weaves a broader story of American progress and decline over the past 150 years. It's a cautionary tale of prosperity, hubris, and loss.

Would you consider the audio edition of Bitter Brew to be better than the print version?
I have not read the print version of Bitter Brew but there is a great PDF attached to the download for pics and charts.
Who was your favorite character and why?
The Forth is my favorite as he is leaving an incredible path of death and destruction in his wake.
Have you listened to any of Peter Berkrot’s other performances before? How does this one compare?
No, but I do plan to listen to his other books in the future.
Was this a book you wanted to listen to all in one sitting?
It was broken into 3 parts, and I finished it in less than a week as I found it very interesting. I think they should make it into a TV mini series.
Any additional comments?
I live in St. Louis so the book is a must read for people living in the Lou, but people from other places will enjoy the book if they have ever drank a beer or wondered what rich people do when they have no morals or common sense.

I have not purchased a print book in 2 years as I purchase only Audible versions of books.

It’s amateur hour at the White House. So says New York Times best-selling author Edward Klein in his political exposé The Amateur. Tapping into the public’s growing sentiment that President Obama is in over his head, The Amateur argues that Obama’s toxic combination of incompetence and arrogance has run our nation and his presidency off the rails.

Would you listen to The Amateur again? Why?
I would definitely listen again as there are some back stories surrounding Obama's closest aids that I found very interesting.
What other book might you compare The Amateur to and why?
Dick Cheney's memoir has similar stories. This book is about someone on the far opposite to Cheney though.
What about John McLain’s performance did you like?
I felt the narration was very good. His voice was clear and easily understandable.
What’s the most interesting tidbit you’ve picked up from this book?
Valerie Jarrett seems to be a puppet master and works closely with Michelle Obama in making key decisions.
