Historia
Detective John Stone is taking early retirement. He has informed the chief, Inspector John Newman; and his partner and wife, Carmen Dehan, is retiring with him. She is pregnant and both Stone and Dehan want a safe, secure environment for their future child. Their sights are set on New England, where Stone will write his memoirs. So the last thing either of them expects is a curtain call from one of Stone’s old flames. Yet that is exactly what happens when actress Jane Morley shows up and asks Stone to investigate a very particular cold case.

Love the progression of the series. Also Adam Grupper is just great as detective stone. His voice is exactly the way I would expect a detective to sound like and I can just picture what he must look like.

Historia
There are a lot of things you really don’t want to find when you’re a homicide detective in the Bronx. High on the list is a new serial killer. Serial killers are real bad news because they kill without motive, so they are hard to trace and they can take years to catch. But even worse than a new serial killer, is a new kind of serial killer: one who murders with a motive, but a motive so unfathomable nobody can understand it; a motive that makes his choice of victims incomprehensible and unpredictable, a motive that leads to each victim being killed in a particularly cruel and unusual way.

This is a great series. Adam Grupp is just perfect! He sounds just like what you would expect a cop to sound like. Like the way Stone and his partner have developed. Can’t wait to listen to book 29! I do hope they continue, even after retirement.

I’ve spent most of my life focusing on others, Sacrificing my own interests to help my family, then the world at large. When I tried to help a stray dog being cornered by someone from animal services, I quickly found out my own limits and overestimations. And just how wrong I had been about the man who cornered the dog. This stranger with hypnotic grey eyes seemed always present to save me from myself. First it was small, then he became my defender when I got in over my head trying to save others. He’s captured my attention, and it’s only when he asks me on a date that I feel entirely...

Virtual voice

This was my first book in which a virtual voice was used. Personally I do not care for it.
As far as the story goes I thought it was a simple story and much like others in this category. Will not be following this one.

This is my first time reading/listening
this author. I very much enjoyed this book and will try the next one in this series. Great plot. As far as Daniel Dorsey, for me there are some things that were great and other things not so much. Virgil is supposed to be middle aged but the voice used hit me as a sixty something that has smoked 2 packs a day. Having said that I loved his southern accents. I am from the south and sometimes it can sound so fake but he sounds really good, made me wonder if he is from the south - that good.

This series is getting better and better. I like that it deals with a man that just can’t let his love for his ex go. Yet he does try. It will be interesting as to where that side of the series goes. Love that he picked Minnesota for the location and all the references to living there. Matt weaves a good who dun it and Macleod does a great job with all of the voices. Thanks

Revisado: 02-27-23
This series is getting better and better. The story line has supporting characters which are growing and evolving along with the two main characters. Nicky James has given a good foundation and has allowed us to see the flaws and struggles of these people. I am pulling for them and can’t wait to see what happens next. Nick Russo does a great job of bringing the book to life. Hope he continues with this series.
Thank you to Nicky and to Nick

Historia
Lately, I’ve been full of questions. One hot summer night, I find all the answers when I kiss another guy for the first time. But he disappears, leaving me wondering who my mystery man was. I can’t stop thinking about him. Even on the ball field, I’m daydreaming about his hungry hands, and the filthy things he whispered in his posh British accent. Somehow, I still win one of the biggest games of my career, and afterward, the man surprises me with an invitation: “Meet me in a private suite.”

Last man standing
Revisado: 01-22-23
The story line of the book is exactly what you come to expect if you have read/listened to the books in order. I understand why the narration is done by a women for this book, however I would have liked it better if a guy had read the “guy” parts. Also there was no changing of the voices or accents for the different that spoke. After hearing the guys voices and accents in the prior books I just really missed that.

Lone wolf Shaun Stevens' automatic response to the words "happily ever after"? Kill me now. Yet with all his friends settling down he's begun to think there may actually be something to this love-and-roses crap. One thing's for sure: His dream mate will have to out-cuss, out-spit, and out-hike him. So he never expected the one to push his forever button would be a blue-blooded Southern debutante with a voice as dark and velvety as her skin.

I really liked the story concept, however it really dragged and the performance just wasn’t up to par so when you put both areas together no matter how much you like the concept it just was not really good.
