Historia
September 1943: German forces occupy Rome. Gestapo boss Obersturmbannführer Paul Hauptmann rules with terror. Hunger is widespread. Rumors fester. The war’s outcome is far from certain. Diplomats, refugees, and escaped Allied prisoners flee for protection into Vatican City; at one fifth of a square mile, it's the world’s smallest state, a neutral, independent country within Rome. A small band of unlikely friends led by a courageous Irish priest is drawn into deadly danger as they seek to help those seeking refuge.

It is probably better to read this book rather than to listen. The story switches between the war years and the 1960's creating a somewhat disjointed story.

Historia
On a stormy Chicago night, renowned semiotician Dr. Evan Wilding and his brother, River, who’s back from an archaeological dig, reunite in a mystery. A package addressed to both of them contains a hand-drawn maze, an ancient Cretan coin, and a cryptic greeting: Let the game begin. The opening move is murder. In a downtown alley, a man has been found nearly cleaved in two, a symbol drawn on his forehead and a savage rip in his throat. Given the clues, Evan sees a parallel to a fearsome Greek myth. Which means his friend Detective Addie Bisset is on the trail of a legendary flesh-eating monster.

Somewhat entertaining but long winded at times
Revisado: 12-24-24
There were parts of the story that make no sense…why would you fly to London from Boston when there are several direct flights a day from Boston to London. Poor research.
The family is supposedly based in Boston but the narrator did not pronounce aunt as a Bostonian would do. Poor prep on the actors part.
There were parts where there was filler that didn’t add a lot to the overall story

Historia
Photographer Isla Wilson is thrilled she's landed her dream job, but the clients who hired her are getting stranger by the day. It sounded so perfect—a month's assignment at the lush Scottish Highlands property of architect Alban McGregor, and his wife, Jessica. But in the woods, there's a playhouse with a chilling history. Two years ago, the McGregors' daughter Elodie was abducted and then died in that playhouse. The townspeople insist her abductor had to be a stranger in their town. Alban refuses to knock the playhouse down, even keeping a picture of it on his wall.

Rambling with huge gaps and no flow
Revisado: 03-20-24
Half of this story makes no sense and no information is provided to really understand the plot. The main character is one dimensional and frankly unbelievable.
I keep vowing never to order another “only from audible” as generally they are terrible. Once again another wasted credit.

Completely ridiculous story
Revisado: 10-02-23
This has to be the stupidest spy story that I have ever read/listened to. The outcome is completely predictable. Worse is how the female protagonist is portrayed. She comes off as a complete idiot and oblivious to everything around her.

Terrible Narration and the story needs a good editor
Revisado: 08-30-23
This story has a lot of potential however there are many times when the story drags with commentary that is simplistic and adds nothing to the story line. This, with a good editor this story could be much more enjoyable.
The narrator is not engaging and I kept falling asleep as I listened.
