Historia
The entire human race balances on the razor's edge of annihilation, beset by an enemy that turns our own bodies against us, that changes normal people into psychopaths or transforms them into nightmares. To some, Doctor Margaret Montoya is a hero-a brilliant scientist who saved the human race from an alien intelligence determined to exterminate all of humanity. To others, she's a monster - a mass murderer single-handedly responsible for the worst atrocity ever to take place on American soil. All Margaret knows is that she's broken. The blood of a million deaths is on her hands.

Ugh... the sign post!
Revisado: 09-13-18
I did not think I would've enjoyed this book, given what happened in the 2nd book with my favorite characters, but I was wrong! I loved this book just as much as the others.
I never thought a book could have such an impact on me, but the sign post... the freaking details, I wanted to throw up!
I'm hooked on books by Scott Sigler... I need more.

Historia
From the acclaimed author of Infected comes an epic and exhilarating story of humanity’s secret battle against a horrific enemy. Across America, a mysterious pathogen transforms ordinary people into raging killers, psychopaths driven by a terrifying, alien agenda. The human race fights back, yet after every battle the disease responds, adapts, using sophisticated strategies and brilliant ruses to fool its pursuers. The only possible explanation: The epidemic is driven not by evolution but by some malevolent intelligence.

In the first book, we went on a roller coaster ride with Perry, Dew, Margaret and her team. In this book, the roller coaster ride was amplified. There was a lot of excitement, twists and turns... oh and lots of gore!
Perry and Dew were my absolute favorite characters in both books. This book is thrilling right up to the very end. My heart was racing, I was in shock and tears towards the end... I was not expecting that at all.
I am a fan of Scott Sigler and would not think twice about picking up a book by this author.

Welcome to Derry, Maine. It’s a small city, a place as hauntingly familiar as your own hometown. Only in Derry the haunting is real. They were seven teenagers when they first stumbled upon the horror. Now they are grown-up men and women who have gone out into the big world to gain success and happiness. But the promise they made 28 years ago calls them reunite in the same place where, as teenagers, they battled an evil creature that preyed on the city’s children.

I loved this book... every minute of it. At first, I found the narration a bit weird, but I read some other reviews and listed to the end of the book for the explanation. Hearing what he said made me appreciate Scott Sigler even more.

Historia
On a fateful summer morning in 1986, two 11-year-old girls meet for the first time. By the end of the day, they will both be charged with murder. Twenty-five years later, journalist Kirsty Lindsay is reporting on a series of sickening attacks on young female tourists in a seaside vacation town when her investigation leads her to interview carnival cleaner Amber Gordon. For Kirsty and Amber, it's the first time they've seen each other since that dark day so many years ago.

Slooooow Book, nothing special
Revisado: 08-01-18
This book was basic, nothing special... thankfully I got this book when Audible had a sale, or else I would've never considered it. It's slow to start and I frequently questioned why I was even listening to it.
There's a lot of British Slang, although some were pretty easy to figure out their meaning. The narrator did a good job, except for some of her male voices - they seemed very whiney. The author did a great job at making these 2 girls likeable but the ending was just... flat. I guess I'm just used to reading books by Koontz, King and now Sigler, so it lacked excitement and thrill for me. I felt sorry for Amber at the end and I don't think Martin's character was even necessary, he could've been a random insignificant little rat that just happen to come across them. There was absolutely no purpose for him throughout the entire book!
The book felt incomplete and the ending was lackluster.

Historia
Homicide detective Bryan Clauser is losing his mind. How else to explain the dreams he keeps having - dreams that mirror, with impossible accuracy, the gruesome serial murders taking place all over San Francisco? How else to explain the feelings these dreams provoke in him - not disgust, not horror, but excitement? As Bryan and his longtime partner, Lawrence 'Pookie' Chang, investigate the murders, they learn that things are even stranger than they at first seem.

Excellent book! So addictive...
Revisado: 07-24-18
I purchased this book when Audible had a sale and it seemed like a good detective story. I've never read anything by Scott Sigler before and figured why not, let's try something new.
Best decision ever! I was addicted to this thriller and couldn't put it down. This book has unique and likeable characters, like Pookie Chang. There are monsters and suspense mixed in with some humor and I couldn't get enough. This book was nothing like I expected... and I LOVED EVERY MINUTE!
If you like Dean Koontz and Stephen King, you'll love Scott Sigler!

Historia
Libby Day was seven when her mother and two sisters were murdered in "The Satan Sacrifice of Kinnakee, Kansas". As her family lay dying, little Libby fled their tiny farmhouse into the freezing January snow. She lost some fingers and toes, but she survived, and famously testified that her 15-year-old brother, Ben, was the killer. Twenty-five years later, Ben sits in prison, and troubled Libby lives off the dregs of a trust created by well-wishers who've long forgotten her.

WOW!
Revisado: 03-07-17
Would you listen to Dark Places again? Why?
Yes, I would listen to again.
Who was your favorite character and why?
My favorite character was Ben. I loved listening to his point of view the most and quite often saying to myself "omg, what was he thinking?".
Which scene was your favorite?
I think every part Lyle was in was my favorite. He seemed funny and quirky.
Did you have an extreme reaction to this book? Did it make you laugh or cry?
Shocked and horrified mostly. Also, the letter from their mom gave me chills. What she hoped for them didn't happen and it was just... sad.
Any additional comments?
I couldn't stop listening to this book. I would listen all day at work, driving to and from work, it was thrilling! The crew of narrators were AWESOME, they did a superb job and brought this book to life.
