Historia
The motivations behind today's most successful leaders and entrepreneurs come to a simple yet decisive explanation: there are people who give, people who take, people who match and people who fake. Our world is filled with these givers, takers, matchers and fakers. Amazingly, those who succeed (not only personally but for their clients and companies) don't take or match. They give. (Although they're not necessarily philanthropic.)

Entertaining and edifying

The book could only use improvement in helping people navigate sectors of the economy where takers are predominant. Otherwise, a great Reid.

Historia
Most home studio engineers don't have a process to follow as they mix. As a result, they find themselves feeling unsure of where to begin, how to process individual tracks, make them all work together, and know exactly when their work is finished. Working like this can be frustrating since it often is time consuming and results in weak, lifeless mixes. That's where this book comes in handy.

Historia
One of the biggest myths that plagues the business world today is that our ability to network depends on having the “gift-of-gab”. You don’t have to be outgoing to be successful at networking. You don’t have to become a relentless self-promoter. In fact, you don’t have to act like an extrovert at all. Matthew Pollard, an introvert himself, draws on over a decade of research and real-world examples to provide an actionable blueprint for introverted networking.

Rodgers and Hart. George and Ira Gershwin. Cole Porter. Lerner and Loewe. For most people who've grown up with and shared America's musical heritage, great songs open the floodgates to memories and feelings. Perhaps nowhere is this more profound than in the world of Broadway musicals, with their iconic melodies and memorable lyrics.Revisit the standards, originally written for the stage, that have both delighted and helped mend the broken hearts of Americans for decades.

Analysis sacrificed for name-dropping
Revisado: 02-14-22
Bill Messenger is awesome, but… I would have preferred more analysis of great musicals and less name-dropping.
Of course, certain people like Burt Williams need to come into focus—but sometimes the personalities drown out the understanding of musical theater as an evolving art form.

Handsdown worst audiobook on the subject
Revisado: 06-17-21
The intro makes it seem promising because he says "this book is for you if..." and lists a number of categories. Unfortunately, the book is not true to this promise. Instead of explaining anything in music theory apart from half-steps, scales and chords, the author rants about WHY one should learn music theory and HOW one finds the best teacher. Actually, Mr. Morgan, you are the teacher. No one bought this book with any doubts about learning music theory. They counted on you to teach them something, and you didn't deliver. You wasted their time.
Also, though lip service is paid to Sanatra, Clapton, Jimmy Hendrix, etc., the only genre discussed at length in "the state of modern music" is classical music (sometimes called concert music). Interesting rant on the misguided practice of ultra serialism, but not helpful to anyone that isn't interesting in becoming a composer of modern / postmodern concert music.

If you don’t know what a dominant 7 is, might be worth your time. If you do, you might not need this book.
Author very nice guy and informative. But you’ll need more if you’re serious about theory. He spent too much time on easy stuff, and only scratches the surface of the difficult stuff.

Not well structured
Revisado: 09-26-20
There's too much emphasis on the Roman emperors as a cult of personalities rather than as executives of economic and social policy. Why, for example, was Augustus such a great emperor? If you listen to this series, the answer is: "he ended the civil war [i.e., killed off belligerents] and didn't piss off the elites." Really?! That's it?! What about founding one of history's first ever fire brigades? What about his welfare policies? Bread and circuses? Admittedly, this stuff does come up in one of the later lectures, but it should have been a running theme throughout. If you like to think of Roman history as a Hollywood action film, this might be for you. If you're looking for some depth in constitutionalism and what made Rome, by the standards of its own time (emphatically not by the standards of ours), a relatively enlightened and prosperous empire, this does not deliver.

Is the world really falling apart? Is the ideal of progress obsolete? In this elegant assessment of the human condition in the third millennium, cognitive scientist and public intellectual Steven Pinker urges us to step back from the gory headlines and prophecies of doom, which play to our psychological biases. Instead, follow the data: Pinker shows that life, health, prosperity, safety, peace, knowledge, and happiness are on the rise, not just in the West but worldwide.
