Historia
Dr. Peterson guides us through the ancient, foundational stories of the Western world. In riveting detail, he analyzes the Biblical accounts of rebellion, sacrifice, suffering, and triumph that stabilize, inspire, and unite us culturally and psychologically. Adam and Eve and the eternal fall of mankind; the resentful and ultimately murderous war of Cain and Abel; the cataclysmic flood of Noah; the spectacular collapse of the Tower of Babel; Abraham’s terrible adventure; and the epic of Moses and the Israelites.

A heavy book. But so fascinating.
Revisado: 03-25-25
The book starts out a bit "difficult", at least it did for me, because the narration seemed... frustrated. Angry, in a way. But it got better quickly, and IS a very deep and insightful perspective on one of the oldest books. Changed how I See the bible, for sure.

Full of preachy real world topics at the cost of story
Revisado: 05-23-24
This book feels like bad fanfiction.
The previous Laundry Files books had interesting characters of all sorts and colors, or sexualities. Great females characters, great male characters, and rarely a clichee in sight. The focus was telling an exciting Story.
Not so much this book. To be honest, I am shocked by how instantly a good writer can sacrifice His awesome storytelling ability to an agenda.
This book tries to showcase and preach certain political topics, thinly disguised as the Laundry Files stories I loved so much.
Nearly every heterosexual man in this book is either cruel, insane, dumb, ignorant, criminal, a perv, or a wifebeater. If he exists at all. The only slightly sane men in the book are either homosexual, or trans. Nothing wrong with different sexualities, but this book has overdone it in such an exaggerated way that it feels like "Revenge on the male reader". "White men are horrible" seems to be the moral of the Story. Inclusion is great, so is tolerance, but this book is a cheap chlichee.
Aside from that, the book has an extremely slow Intro and takes ages to become interesting. And when it does, the book uses this hightened interest in the finally emerging Plot... to include the next reason why white men are supposedly horrible.
If you make it through all the preachy stuff, and the harsh, high pitched and sadly over-acted voiceacting, you find some cool bits of the old Laundry files flair in there.
I want my fun back. My Reading books to escape certain depressing real world problems. If I want real world politics and guilt tripping I don't need to buy a book...
Simply a very, very big disappointment.

Ratgeber und zynisch lustige Mafia Satire zugleich
Revisado: 04-14-24
Mehrmals musste ich beim hören des Buches tatsächlich real auflachen, was mir gerade bei digitaler Unterhaltung sehr selten passiert. Ein Qualitätsmerkmal also.

Great Book
Revisado: 11-14-22
After the end of the previous Book, and the loss of some interesting characters, this Book Managers to introduce some new characters that are a worthy replacement. the narrator does a good Job, at Times an even better one than the last, but He has problems with female, soft voices, making them Sound Like old witches. Not a Problem, Just.. Not as good as the previous narrator in that regard.

Insane pricing for an hour of content
Revisado: 10-04-22
It is really Well done and fun to listen to. A really good audio drama, No doubt about that. But the price for an hour... whereas Audiobooks that cost the same, and often also feature multiple narrators, provide Entertainment for 10h+.... it is Just absurd. I bought it merely by accident, Not noticing the 57 Minutes Detail....

Historia
The Iron Wolves are a company of legionnaires whose legendary exploits date back to the Savage Wars. When they are invited to be guests of honor at a ceremony on a small, backwater planet, they look forward to some precious time away from the constant conflicts of galaxy's edge. But when a neighboring country invades, disrupting the ceremony and killing innocents, the Wolves are forced to make an impossible decision. Aid a people pleading for their protection...or obey the cynical orders of their senate to stand down and see how the dust settles.

Generic Actionstory with generic Characters
Revisado: 09-08-22
The First book was generic, but it had an interesting twist and some interesting, fun characters. The second book, this one, is lacking anything that would make it stand out, and is only a poor excuse to write some badass quotes and deeds.
TL:DR : "Meh".

Some say that to change the world you must first burn it down. Now that belief will be tested in the crucible of revolution: the Breakers and Burners have seized the levers of power, the smoke of riots has replaced the smog of industry and all must submit to the wisdom of crowds. With nothing left to lose, Citizen Brock is determined to become a new hero for the new age, while Citizeness Savine must turn her talents from profit to survival before she can claw her way to redemption. Orso will find that when the world is turned upside down, no one is lower than a monarch.

Simply amazing
Revisado: 06-05-22
This book should be a mandatory read. Aside from being funny, dark, awesome, intriguing and filled with plottwists, it is educational. Why educational? Because it showcases how horribly wrong idealism is, if applied to a greater scale. No matter the ideology, the result is suffering. Revolutionary thoughts may sound cool, but more often than not, a radical change only leaves misery.

Badass book, if you like Krieg.
Revisado: 05-04-22
A lot of vague background for "Krieg" included, and a story about it's history combined with a battlefield in the "present", where we see what came out of it. Interesting read. If you are looking for personal stories and deep characters it's the wrong book though :D

Well produced, "Stephenson Light"
Revisado: 04-27-22
If you like the roller-coaster absurdity of Neal Stephensons books and his usually charming characters, you'll like this well produced audio book. The different actors do a great job. The only downside is that it feels a bit like an intelligent book that was dumbed down a lot to be more accessible to a more "standard audience". It reminds me a lot of "the department of D.O.D.O.", but with less depth.
Good lighthearted entertainment though! Funny, at times.

One of the best of the series
Revisado: 04-01-22
Different, but great. So many new perspectives, and a lot of character development. For the first time in the gaunts ghosts series we also get a view from the chaos perspective, and some chaos characters are even.. Likeable, in a "wrong" kind of way.
