Faith, Hope & Miracles
Revisado: 03-30-25
This is just a short review. I enjoyed the story telling from our writer, and the narrator was great with the various character's voices and personalities.
I appreciated the goodness and innocence of Dan, one of the protagonists. I do wish certain characters could have survived, but that's always up to who holds the pen to the story.
This is the only the second time I've read a zompoc story that places the cause of a zombie infection on spiritualism rather than a scientific virus, bacteria, or fungas. That's exactly how I would like to write a zompoc story. Well done.

This series has high action. Spiked tails slicing off heads and limbs, body parts floating in the vacuum of space, etc. However, it also has the hope for life. Families reunite in this second book.

Historia
Presidents, premieres, prime ministers, entire governments disappeared instantly, like a fragile house of cards in a hurricane. Some hid deep underground or holed up in fortified strongholds, but most were swallowed up by the dead, never to be heard from again. Created in a biosafety level 4 lab in Wuhan, China, a bioweapon meant to sicken and quickly kill an enemy population—leaving intact infrastructure, resources, and vast swaths of fertile farmland—instead causes the infected to die and return as mindless, flesh-eating zombies.

Action, zombies, live breathers, military helos, friends, family, a dog, and killer kids come together in several stories. Sadly, one of the crew dies. My hope is that Cade will be going back to a certain country to save a Rabbit & get more intelligent. I can't wait for the next book!
The narrator does a great job with the voices and emotions.

Great Mystery Except...
Revisado: 01-04-25
I've enjoyed this writer's creative cozy mysteries. Adding in Smokey Joe just makes it funner. However, there's only one piece I can't stand. The main character is constantly discredited by the men in her life for being a woman librarian that should be weak and demure. They don't want her to get involved in solving murders, because it could be dangerous. That is so aggravating!
She's intelligent and strong. I love that she is growing into a a mature young adult. She's learning how to take on leadership roles and to allow people around her to start loving her. She's growing in her relationships.
Her friends and family should be encouraging her to develop her sleuthing abilities, and suggesting she learn self defense if she is going to continue. Of course, the story is not taking place in the real world, so I need to give it some latitude.

Great Medical Murder Mystery
Revisado: 11-12-24
It's been a long time since I've read/listened to a medical mystery story. I loved reading Robin Cook's books. I really enjoyed this one, and I'll enjoy getting into the rest of this writer's books. The protagonist is very human and relatable.
I learned a lot. This is written from the perspective of an anesthesiologist doctor. I knew they're responsible for keeping you alive in surgery, but this book really drove it home! An anesthesiologist has to know how to mix chemicals and gases for the right cocktail for that individual and that type of sedation or nerve block needed. it sounds very complicated.
Kudos to this writer for being descriptive so that the reader was able to visualize the O.R. and equipment used. Also, the characters were well fleshed out and the reader could sympathize with their emotions and strife.
The ONLY reason I scored the Performance as a 3 star (it should be a 1 star, but that reduces the overall book score too low), is because AI is the narrator.

The first seal of Revelation has been opened! Terrorism has struck the United States! And the Middle East is at war! Chaos has erupted worldwide! But this is just the beginning of the birth pains and only a glimpse of the Tribulation that is yet to come! Ford, our main character, has discovered that world events are unfolding as they were foretold more than 2,500 years ago. The Road to Revelation" is a fictional book series that is based on Biblical Prophecy. It chronicles the time preceding the second coming of Jesus Christ. AI Narration, Unfortunately. Good Biblical References and Story
Revisado: 07-25-24
Overall, I like the story and the Biblical references are good. I enjoy listening to apocalypse books, but now I'm happy I've found two Christian writers in the genre. Clifford T Wellman Jr and Mark Goodwin are the only two I've found so far.
Some things I'd like to see from the author are a little more development in parts of the stories, instead of just touching on highlighted life events for each of the couples. I do like that one character in the story may have a change of heart from evil, hopefully. I'd also like to see possibly a near death experience from a good, or bad person in the story. What that person may experience if they met Jesus, but was allowed to continue living. I wonder what Lazarus experienced before Jesus brought him back to life? However, maybe this writer doesn't want to write on speculation, rather than what he's actually researched between the books of the Bible. I don't know.
I dont like that writers are starting to use AI for Audible! I'm extremely against that. The only reason I'm going to continue listening to this series is that it's currently free on Audible. Yes, I know, I could just get the Kindle version, but Audible meets my lifestyle at this time. AI doesn't have the right vocal inflections at the right moments in the story. It's very annoying! I'd rather listen to the writer narrate their own story, even if they're bad at reading.
I do like the story though that this writer is unfolding. By following the Biblical references, my eyes are really opening to better cross referencing than what I've learned by just reading on my own. I love that I'm learning what to watch for during these difficult times in our world.

AI Narrator!
Revisado: 07-17-24
I had a difficult time hearing the writer's voice come through the story. Usually, I bust out laughing at some one-liners this writer comes up with. However, the AI interfered with the story, because of the wrong inflections at the wrong time.
Hopefully, the writer will decide to make this into a series. If so, then he could have a good human narrator redo this book and any future books.

Always The Best From Mark Tufo!
Revisado: 06-27-24
All of Mark's books with the characters, Mike Talbot, B.T. and Trip, are filled with unexpected twists and turns. I really appreciate the variety of characters in his stories, and each has a solid personality. They seem as real and alive as your brother, sister or friend.
Now that he's delved into the Fantasy genre and taken our favorite characters with him, we get to enjoy another piece of his creativity and humorous story telling. I love how Mark has weaved mythical creatures in with a background of their own. I'm very excited and impatiently waiting for book 2.

The year is 2011, and what starts as a pervasive and inexplicable illness ends up as a zombie infestation that devastates the world's population. Taking the form of a biologist's journal found in the aftermath of the attack, this pulse-pounding, suspenseful tale of zombie apocalypse follows the narrator as he flees from city to countryside and heads north to Canada, where he hopes the undead will be slowed by the colder climate.

I Would Like This Story To Be Expanded
Revisado: 05-03-24
This is a good zompoc story and I would like to see this short story/novella expanded to a book or series in Audible.
Spoiler Alert: The basis of this zombie virus happens through food additives. I can envision the writer continuing the book, from the end of this story, by expounding in detail about the fight with zombies in the last town. Then the protagonist and dog flee through the woods...
