Amazing Story About Selfless Sacrafice & Heroism

This is not the typical type of book I would listen to...I'm more of a fiction listener about survival and patriotism. My wife had found this book in the kids version and thought my son would really enjoy it. After hearing her describe I decided to listen to it so I could talk to my son about it when he finished it.
I have to say that I was completely blown away and could not stop listening to it. The narrator does an amazing job telling the story about the life and legacy of Welles Crowther and countless sacrifices he made throughout his life, including the ultimate sacrifice he made to save others on 9-11.
I highly recommend this book to everyone as even those who don't posses a sense of duty will find inspiration in this story.

DA Carey has society pegged in this book. We see it going on across the US in the poltically driven/controlled news outlets, the entitlements, and complete ignorance of progressive liberals.
Vince reminds me of Morgan from the "Going Home" series except way more badass. I can't wait to listen to book #2!!

really fun to listen to!

I really liked the plot and it's probably just as realistic as an EMP or a financial crisis. my only complaint is that all the kids are made to sound pretty dopey when their actions ate far from that. I still can't wait for the next book in this series though!!

I love this series going back to the original series before Cole's Saga...I can't believe this is it! I've stayed up endless hours listening to this series and I can't believe, don't want to believe, that it's finally over. IDK what I'll do with my free time now: /

Planes fell out of the sky, people went nuts looting and killing as he scrambled to hide from all of the craziness. Joe had a cabin and land in Southern Oregon when TSHTF and retreated to the cabin to survive the massive die-off that was always predicted for an apocalypse. The weeks before the Grid went down weren't much better for Joe because his best friend, his fiancé, and his beloved Grandma all died before lights out.
