Historia
When your arch-nemesis dies and she still won't leave you alone. It's safe to say, Joyce and I don't get along. She's two-faced, for a start. So when she does me a solid and takes a drunken tumble and dies, I can finally forget all about her. Not that I wanted her dead. But peace isn’t on the cards for long because Joyce isn’t really gone. For reasons known only to the twisted universe, she’s come back to haunt me. Now, I can’t get a moment’s peace—not even in the bathroom—because this needy, ghostly, zombie version of Joyce follows me everywhere. And to make matters worse, ...

Intriguing plot twist
Revisado: 05-04-25
The story is intriguing. The idea of a ghost haunting a woman in order to to find out her killer is not a new idea, but the revelations she uncovers and the character development makes it fresh. I enjoyed the way the story unravels itself. Looking forward (hopefully) to a sequel or a series.
The performance, by an ai generated voice with a British accent, was definitely better than the American counterpart from other ai generated audiobooks. In this case, the pauses were in the correct context. There were some conversations between the characters which really required more of a distinction between voices. Other than that I thought it was fine. I very much prefer voice actors with their talented skills over the ai generated voice.

Historia
Lana Fleming’s sister has vanished from the set of TV’s hottest show, and no one seems to care. Desperate for answers, Lana sneaks in as an extra, only to get stranded with Griffin Hart, an A-list action star with a reputation for good abs and bad decisions. Though Griffin didn’t expect to be cast as a librarian’s sidekick in a real-life thriller, he’s weirdly into it—and into her. Even more unsettling—she sees right through his playboy persona. But their meet-cute soon turns deadly when they uncover a Hollywood scandal for the ages.

The characters are engaging!
Revisado: 11-17-24
I loved how the story evolved. There were characters that were relatable and others that were outlandishly unreal but were so much fun.
Richard Osman wrote a fast paced murder mystery with all the best parts; Good guys are good and bad guys go to prison.

Historia
The year is 1739. Eliza Lucas is sixteen years old when her father leaves her in charge of their family’s three plantations in rural South Carolina and then proceeds to bleed the estates dry in pursuit of his military ambitions. Tensions with the British, and with the Spanish in Florida, just a short way down the coast, are rising, and slaves are starting to become restless. Her mother wants nothing more than for their South Carolina endeavor to fail so they can go back to England. Soon her family is in danger of losing everything.

Intriguing premise
Revisado: 10-25-24
I thought the premise of The Indigo Girl was intriguing. Living in South Carolina, I was drawn to the historical nature of the story and wanted to know more about how Carolina became known for indigo as one of its main exports. Story using actual historical people and facts made the fictional story more plausible. I always enjoy Saskia Maarleveld’s narration. She has a wonderful voice and makes the characters come alive.
