This book provides necessary context and perspective on how the right has essentially tricked the world into believing it has our best interest at heart when in fact, it only has their own self interest at heart and they care nothing for their constituents interests.

The only negative I have is that there wasn’t more. I certainly hope Dr Idz has a sequel in the works as there are far more myths to debunk and more information that can be imparted.

I’m a democrat. I disagree with many, if not most of Chaney’s political views. Having said that, what she says in this book are the facts of how the 1/6 insurrection happened, how we know what we do about it, and the grave consequences to our republic should Donald Trump ever be allowed to return to the White House.

Every once in a while, there’s a book that I truly wish every American would read. This is definitely one of them. Sadly, the people who need it most, are also the most unlikely to pick it up (most of the people sucked into the authoritarian rabbit hole are those who haven’t read a book since high school).

If you cook (or eat) you need this book!

If you love to cook (or eat), or are just geeky like I am, you have to read this book. He takes everyday foods and subjects them to the scientific method, obsessively finding the best ways to prepare them. Much of it goes against conventional wisdom but it all works, and well!

And important cautionary tale. The author clearly explains what is being done by "big data" and how this can affect us all in surprising and nontrivial ways.

This is perhaps the worst audiobook I have ever listened to. The format of an audiobook does not lend itself well to things like telephone numbers and email addresses every 30 seconds. The narrator drones on with this information which should be included elsewhere on a website or something rather than interrupting the flow of useful information. But that is not my only consideration.

The narrator often mispronounce is Australian words (what better use of an audiobook for travel them to know how to pronounce foreign words).

Finally, there are numerous errors in the book. Considering the copyright date of this book, I find it interesting that there is mention of flights from the Soviet Union but, most interestingly is when the author speaks of the "dingo fence" and, correctly states that is the longest such fence in the world but, is wildly inaccurate she talks of an 83,000 mile long fence (the actual fence is just under 3500 miles). Did the author not realize that the earth circumference is only 25000 miles?

In this book, Dr. Offit explains the origins, failings and fallacies behind many of the alternative medicine quackery that exist today. Unlike the practitioners of quackery, Dr. Offit shows the downside (the injuries, the deaths, the lies and deceptions not just the purported successes).

This excellent book helps to smell some of the more prevalent myths about diet.

My only concern/criticism is the fact that, at least according to one review I read, there is supposed to be a second appendix. That appendix is sort of critical to the interpretation of the first appendix. Some people might miss the true meaning/interpretation of the first appendix without the second one. That appendix does not appear in this audiobook.

As is typical of these books, the only reason disaster doesn't reign is because of coincidence and mega amounts of blind luck. The ending was completely predictable and, if anything, boring. He's just cranky knees out now (or paying someone to crank them out for him). Snore...
