Incredible story, but the audio...

This is an amazing story that can not be matched in its uniqueness. I'd highly HIGHLY recommend the physical book as a counterpart, as Clive Barker did paintings of many of the characters, and places.
The audio is bad. Mostly it sounds like it was recorded with a 1970s grade school tape recorder, and then left next to a furnace. The sound quality changes from chapter to chapter, and the narrator isn't all THAT great at differentiating character voices, with a couple exceptions. (yes, as a matter of fact i COULD do it better)

The story is so good though, it's worth the sandpapery delivery. This is a real gem.

Would you consider the audio edition of It to be better than the print version?

Yes. The audio was easier to follow, and I tend to retain more with my ears.

It is going to be seen as a great american novel. The story line weaves and ties. There are no words that I can use that will give this justice.
Stephen Weber is an absolutely amazing narrator. He brings the emotion, divides the different voices, and somehow makes the pacing more intense when it's needed. This might be my favorite audiobook to date.

Would you listen to Ready Player One again? Why?

I've listened a few times. It's really gripping, and very charming. Wil Wheaton knocks it out of the park. He doesn't do character voice differences that well, but his acting really comes into play. Excellent performance!
This book is amazing, and I look forward to reading it again....and again...

Where does Ender's Game rank among all the audiobooks you’ve listened to so far?

This one blew me away. I listened to it at work, at the gym, in the car, while jogging, in the bathroom. Couldn't get it out of my ears.

Would you recommend this book to a friend? Why or why not?

I made the mistake of seeing the movie before reading the book. I wanted a longer version of the movie, and got something that didn't have anything of what drew me to the movie to begin with.
It would have been better to read this first, but even then....

This book seemed daunting, because the listen time is something like 3 months. (ok, not THAT long, but long) I was told that it's worth it, and the payoff is amazing. This is one of the best stories I've read in a long time.

Would you listen to The Bazaar of Bad Dreams again? Why?

Yes! It was dynamic, and there were many many stories in there.

What did you like best about this story?

The variation. One of them is a comedy!!!!! and it's excellent!

What about the narrators’s performance did you like?

They were ALL good, and they all fit.

If you were to make a film of this book, what would the tag line be?

Want to see a bunch of unrelated stories over the course of 19 hours? No? me neither.

The voice work seemed to fit the subject matter perfectly.

He had a smooth voice, and changed it just enough to pull off different characters. He's good with mild accents.

Yeah, but it's way too long for that.

The pacing was well done, and the narrator really captures the emotions of the moment.

The tentacles. once you read it, you'll know what I'm talking about.

Overall it's well done, and manages to keep the listener involved. I loved it!
