the characters are real and believable
Revisado: 01-12-24
the storyline is gripping and gets you hooked quickly. I love all the Jake Brigance books and this didn't disappoint. The narrator does a fantastic job with his Southern accent, no hoaky twangy performance.

Pure crap
Revisado: 11-20-22
I decided I'd had enough when Sean's hot ex makes a surprise visit to his house and the next morning, during breakfast, strips naked, shoves the breakfast dishes off the table and lies on her back across the breakfast table waiting for Sean to ravish her. That was porn that a 12 year old could write. If the rest of the book is this bad, I'm pulling the plug now.

Revisado: 10-15-21
For people who aren't interested in details, they need a white hat- black hat narrative. That's never set well with me and I've always thought things didn't quite add up. Pace's book corrects the balance.

Historia
So many thousands of books deifying Abraham Lincoln have been published that it is nearly impossible for the average citizen to learn much of anything that is truthful about Lincoln’s presidency. You’ll learn that the real reason why Lincoln launched an invasion of his own country (he never admitted that secession was legal or legitimate) was to destroy the voluntary union of the founders and replace it with a coerced union held together by violence and threats of violence, much more like the old Soviet Union than the original American union.

It fills in some gaps for me on the Civil War
Revisado: 04-08-21
For me there have always been gaps in the narrative about why the North pursued the war with the Confederate states. We were taught it was to free the slaves, which didn't always ring true. DiLorenzo offers a few reasons why in this book.
