Historia
Williams was the best hitter in baseball history. His batting average of .406 in 1941 has not been topped since, and no player who has hit more than 500 home runs has a higher career batting average. Those totals would have been even higher if Williams had not left baseball for nearly five years in the prime of his career to serve as a Marine pilot in WWII and Korea.

Enjoyed Learning More About Ted
Revisado: 09-09-24
The book was good, as far as learning more about Ted Williams. I would have liked they'd gotten someone that knew something about baseball to narrate it. I had trouble figuring out some of the baseball players names mentioned in the book, because the narrator didn't know how to pronounce their names ( some of them Hall of Famers ).

Historia
Mariano Rivera, the man who intimidated thousands of batters merely by opening a bullpen door, began his incredible journey as the son of a poor Panamanian fisherman. When first scouted by the Yankees, he didn't even own his own glove. He thought he might make a good mechanic. When discovered, he had never flown in an airplane, had never heard of Babe Ruth, spoke no English, and couldn't imagine Tampa, the city where he was headed to begin a career that would become one of baseball's most iconic.

Not What I Was Expecting
Revisado: 09-09-24
I wanted to know more about Mariano, the person. It was too much recounting the games he played. I already knew all that, from watching the Yankees all my life. The book mentions GOD, second only to the Bible. Michael Kay is an excellent TV commentator. But he is terrible at narrating books. He cannot read with feeling.

Historia
Every spring, Little Leaguers across the country mimic his stance and squabble over the right to wear his number, 2, the next number to be retired by the world’s most famous ball team. Derek Jeter is their hero. He walks in the footsteps of Ruth, Gehrig, DiMaggio, and Mantle, and someday his shadow will loom just as large. Yet he has never been the best player in baseball. In fact, he hasn’t always been the best player on his team. But his intangible grace and Jordanesque ability to play big in the biggest of postseason moments make him the face of the modern Yankee dynasty, and of America’s game.

Kept me Interested
Revisado: 06-21-24
Why would you let someone read your audio book, that knows nothing about the topic ? The reader mispronounced at least half the names of people mentioned in this book. The story was good.

Historia
From his rapid-fire stand-up comedy riffs to his breakout role in Mork & Mindy and his Academy Award-winning performance in Good Will Hunting, Robin Williams was a singularly innovative and beloved entertainer. He often came across as a man possessed, holding forth on culture and politics while mixing in personal revelations - all with mercurial, tongue-twisting intensity as he inhabited and shed one character after another with lightning speed. But as Dave Itzkoff shows in this revelatory biography, Williams’ comic brilliance masked a deep well of conflicting emotions and self-doubt.

Historia
A dramatic and revelatory account of Joe Torre’s 12 years as manager of the New York Yankees. Joe Torre is the most successful - and most respected - baseball manager of the modern era, steering the Yankees to six American League pennants and four World Series championships. When he left the team in 2007, it was front-page news around the country. Famously diplomatic during his tenure with the Yankees, Torre finally speaks out about what it was like building and managing the dynasty during those 12 glorious and tumultuous years.

Didn't care for the narrator's voice. Concentrated on so much of the negative players and memories. Would like to have heard more about the players who made his stay in New York a successful one.
