A mediocre, if entertaining story, undone by a horrid narration

text-to-speech should not be used for audiobooks. The perspective shifts are made extremely jarring by the monotone, words are frequently mispronounced, and any emotions that the author tried to invoke were constantly undercut.

Now for the story. Fairly generic fantasy isekai with a somewhat interesting set of protagonists. The perspective tends to shift with little to no warning. The time jumps forward and backward with little regard with how invested you are in a scene. Finally, this is not a complete story, it is a set up for a multi novel epic.

In conclusion, the author should have run through at least two more drafts before publishing and never trusted VirtualVoice. If you can't afford a professional narrator, then do it yourself.

It was a nice short story. Didn't have too much of a lead-up, and didn't overstay its welcome. Compact and self contained.
I have one gripe, and that is with the narration. Text-to-speech. It's lazy, unimaginative, and irritating. My immersion was broken one every five to ten minutes because, every time something that needed some inflection came up, it was delivered with the flattest monotone ever considered.
So. if you don't mind being read to by a robot with no sense of rhythm or emphasis, then go ahead. Just kept in mind that this is smutt.

It's decent enough, so long as you know what you are getting into.

The performance was awful. No inflections, character voices, or sense of rhythm. But what else would you expect from the bargain bin text-to-speech option.
As for the story, I was left confused. The intro made it seem like this was an excerpt from a larger story, but it ended with an after explicit seen fade to black.
Overall if you, read the tags; are into everything they say; and don't mind Miss Roboto reading, then this will get you where you are going.
piece of advice. If you are having trouble getting professional VA's, then try amateurs. If you are having trouble getting amateurs to read this smutt, try the enthusiastic folks at Eka's Portal https://aryion.com they love this kind of stuff.

my third favorite part of this book is the fact that there is a bloopers reel. if you are this far in the series, then you know what you are getting into.

I like this series.

Lots of puns, lots of meta-humor, and assholes who torture each other. Buy this book if you like seeing people go through their own personal hell. While the author starts to yell at his critics in book 3, I think it was well deserved.

Normally I don't write reviews but I think this series needs some positive attention.

The book itself made me laugh loud enough to pause and catch my breath four times. And that's not including the blooper reel. I wish more audio books include a blooper reel.
