I really enjoyed this book, but the Virtual Voice almost killed it. The character build was solid and the romance scorching. I would have given it 5 stars if it weren’t for the. Virtual Voice narration.

The book is great - character development, plot and HEALTH! I definitely recommend this book, if you can tolerate the droning monotone voice.
The female virtual voice speaks in a low murmuring monotone and will put you to sleep, as it did me. I actually had to replay several parts of the book because my brain kept tuning the voice out - she sounds like background on a noise machine.

My first book by this author; I was unable to press ”Pause” until my husband begged me to eat and go to bed. I began the book after breakfast and just slipped away into medieval Scotland. The characters are well-developed and deserve stories of their own; so personable! The narrator did an excellent job, but his Irish accent sometimes made words hard to understand without listening to them again. I would love to hear him narrate a book with Irish characters!
This story just won’t let go, hooking the listener with intrigue, time travel, magic and passion, humor, a wickedly persistent evil witch, a modern beauty and a medieval hunk, and their struggle to vanquish the witch and her murderous plans. I highly recommend this book and plan to read more from the author, Catherine Bybee.

I love Kylie Scott’s books! Her characters are so well developed that you can’t believe you haven’t seen them around town yet. This story is based on a different trope - no aliens, no cheating, no divorce. The twists and turns and, yes, the suspense, make it one you just have to finish ASAP. You’ll be so glad you did! Andi Arndt always delivers the most enjoyable performance. She has a natural ability to “become” the characters she speaks for - male OR female. Stellar book and narrator!

While the book’s storyline is believable, the narrator sounded like a high school student reading to her teacher. The narration really decreased the story’s flow and impact.

Well-written story of loss, love and hope; full of feels and smokin’ hot passion. Narration was superb. I didn’t think a female would be able to convincingly perform both female and various male parts, but Ms. Powers did it seamlessly. 5 stars for this one!

This is a true HEA about two incredible people with well-hidden scars from the past and how their fates entwined.

Rachel and Caine have an almost instant connection, although not in a way most great loves begin! Written in her inimitable style with humor, passion and power, Vi Keeland takes us on a journey of healing and love.

I’d give this book an overall 10 if I could-the narrators make the story so real and passionate and the story is well-written, funny and tight. Ms. Keeland just opens the door for us to step into Rachel’s and Caine’s lives. Hang on for the ride, because you won’t want to stop listening!

Caution: this book is full of humor, pathos, love, loss, family, tragedy and redemption! It stars a strong woman and a scarred but hopeful man. I could not stop reading - you will love Cake, if you enjoy a HEA with great character development, great story, and real people.
