You know this story.
Revisado: 04-27-25
This story has been retold over and over. Especially if you read manga or watch anime. What it always boils down to is whether the MC is humble, like-able and challenged.
-This version makes the mc a nice guy, but he is borderline on the humility. And he is way too much op. I wish he was more restricted. Hopefully he will be in subsequent books.

One man’s prison is another man’s fantasy.
Revisado: 04-27-25
Imagine being in the matrix 1.0, but you know you are, and you volunteered as a test subject. In this matrix, it’s a fantasy game like WOW, with rules. You can die, it hurts, it sucks and you have to respawn with loss of specific progress. You can have sex. You can have relationships. You can change. The other players are also logged into the matrix, but they can leave at any time. You are stuck, forever. Good luck.

Historia
In Neo Babylon, your neural implant is your identity. You use it as your credit card, to surf the Altnet, to chat with friends, to login to work or school, and to be pestered by advertisements. Anyone without one is cut off from society. Nick can’t get a neural implant. That fact turns his daily life into hell, but the city's underworld has its plans for him. Being invisible to the city’s omnipresent tracking has its perks. Without a neural presence, he’s someone who is felt but not seen—a wraith.

Mystery plot + movement
Revisado: 04-27-25
-Too many novels these days spend half their time explaining the mechanics of the world in a textbook-like fashion. The mechanics should ALWAYS be explained through the action. Think of Harry Potter and how you learn about the world while it is experienced.
-This book falls into the experience category, thank God. And on top of that, it has a wonderfully convoluted mystery plot woven into the fabric. It’s good to find yourself thinking about the plot in between listening sessions.
-There’s only one spicy scene, and it’s quite interesting.
-Almost All of the harem aspects are emotional, which is nice.
-The mc has a nice amount of humility.
-I would say this story fits into the “Cyberpunk” universe, but not nearly as gritty as William Gibson, or scary as Morgan’s Altered Carbon. It’s much more of a AI Romance story. Don’t get me wrong, there’s a ton of violence and action. And the author does a great job describing it.

Historia
Orson Reid: college freshman, gamer, and quite possibly the legendary boogeyman of the magical world. And you thought your life was weird. It all started the night Orson kissed his best friend, Elyse, and she kissed him back. Yes, the kiss was life changing, but in ways Orson never could have imagined. It seems he contracted a "virus" that is making him taller, faster, and stronger. But his life doesn't go completely off the rails until the night Elyse shows up at his house, strips out of her clothes, and shape-shifts into a giant cat - a panther, to be exact.

Too slow
Revisado: 04-13-25
Unfortunately for me, this story unwinds at a painstakingly underwhelming slowness. The issue is that we all know this trope. It doe t need to be spelled out. Get to the story.

I just can’t.
Revisado: 03-30-25
I really want to listen to this book, but the narrator is so awful that I just can’t do it. I’ve tried changing the speed, but to no avail. This guy slurs his words and has a mush-mouth. I can tell if he’s “trying” to sound like he has an accent or if he really talks like this. I’m really upset but can’t keep listening.

How it’s Made.
Revisado: 03-29-25
One interesting thing about Mr Dalton is how intricate and detailed are his mechanical descriptions of things. He really goes into depth about the work arounds and gadgets that the protagonist has to invent in order to survive. Along with the storyline, this helps balance out the steamy parts.

Historia
The war between different alien groups lasted for over 2,300 years. But Keith Robinson didn't know anything about that. He assumed that the job he had applied for was to work on an Arctic research ship. He thought that he would be assembling parts for upgraded sonar buoys. He thought wrong. The AI on the derelict spaceship was open to lying if that could finally get the ship repaired. Hiring a repair technician from the primitive planet Earth was a crazy plan. And even crazier, it worked. After salvaging an alien ship, Keith now finds himself the ship's owner. But something is deadly wrong ...
