A favorite story since childhood …..no one could be more wildly creative as Bradbury. This is a classic Halloween tale. The performance was good as well.

Historia
For GBI investigator Will Trent and medical examiner Sara Linton, McAlpine Lodge seems like the ideal getaway to celebrate their honeymoon. Set on a gorgeous, off-the-grid mountaintop property, it’s the perfect place to unplug and reconnect. Until a bone-chilling scream cuts through the night. Mercy McAlpine, the manager of the Lodge, is dead. With a vicious storm raging and the one access road to the property washed out, the murderer must be someone on the mountain. But as Will and Sara investigate the McAlpine family and the other guests, they realize that everyone here is lying.

Good story - as expected
Revisado: 03-20-25
I’ve been reading or listening to Slaughter’s stories for years and this one is more of the same. It is good, as expected, but not real original as far as plot goes. The family horror show seemed a bit rehashed. Still a good option for police drama.

From USA Today Bestselling Author, Uvi Poznansky, comes a compelling novel about family secrets: Coming back to his childhood home after years of absence, Ben is unprepared for the secret, which is now revealed to him: his mother, Natasha, who used to be a brilliant pianist, is losing herself to mysterious disease, which turns the way her mind works into a riddle. Intense relationship between father and son
Revisado: 03-18-25
Excellent character development, solid story, and a nice unveiling in the end. Many have troubles with parents but this was a unique storyline that spoke of things taboo yet seemed so natural. The step from boyhood to manhood was turmoil for the main character because of all the secrets kept.

Woman sleuth
Revisado: 11-14-23
The story was good, a few surprise turns so not completely predictable, all the characters were well defined which made the story worth the time, but the pacing was a little slow. The new trend of ‘get into the protagonists head’ can be good, but a bit too much of the remembering dragged the story and wasn’t necessary. Overall a good listen.

Historia
The 2020 presidential election was rife with fraud orchestrated by the Democratic Party. That’s not just an accusation; it’s now, thanks to bestselling author and investigative journalist Dinesh D’Souza, an established fact. With eyewitness testimony and the pinpoint precision and analytic sophistication of the forensic technique of geotracking, D’Souza demonstrates how an already corrupt system put in place by Democratic Party hacks and “community organizers” was taken over and supercharged by national-level operatives to produce massive voter fraud.

Suspenseful Story
Revisado: 11-01-18
I've read most other books by Dan Brown and this one is the best of them. I enjoyed the twisted plot, it kept me wondering, waiting, for what would happen next. In a few places the dialogue turned a little preachy, but overall the interaction was dynamic. I recommend this book. I happened to listen to it his time, great narrator as well.

Plot is the strength
Revisado: 10-30-18
The plot was good, a nice premise with good twists along the way. The backstory was handled well and delicately placed. One problem, I predicted the killer early on (maybe it’s me). As with many recent books, the story was in the protagonist’s head too much, almost making her sound whiny, which made it more difficult for me as the reader to empathize with the character. Sometimes less is more, and lots could have been trimmed. The narrator sounded robotic reading the prose, but the she did a good job distinguishing between characters.

Historia
When the British fought the young United States during the War of 1812, they knew that taking the mouth of the Mississippi River was the key to crippling their former colony. Capturing the city of New Orleans and stopping trade up the river sounded like a simple task - New Orleans was far away from Washington, out of sight and out of mind for the politicians. What the British didn't count on was the power of General Andrew Jackson.

Very Entertaining
Revisado: 12-12-17
If you could sum up Andrew Jackson and the Miracle of New Orleans in three words, what would they be?
This book shed light on a part of American history I never learned in school.
What was one of the most memorable moments of Andrew Jackson and the Miracle of New Orleans?
I find it interesting to learn how different segments of society worked together for a common cause - to keep America free.
What does Brian Kilmeade bring to the story that you wouldn’t experience if you just read the book?
Brian Kilmeade has a great voice and brings much enthusiasm to the story.
Any additional comments?
Overall, anyone who is interested in American history would benefit from this book, but the fact that it is presented so down to earth, it is easy to understand the perilous danger overcome by Andrew Jackson.

Historia
Here is the story of David as you have never heard it before: from the king himself, telling the unofficial version, the one he never allowed his court scribes to recount. In his mind, history is written to praise the victorious—but at the last stretch of his illustrious life, he feels an irresistible urge to tell the truth. In the first volume, Rise to Power, David gives you a fascinating account of his early years, culminating with a tribal coronation. Rooted in ancient lore, his is a surprisingly modern memoir.

A Good Human Drama
Revisado: 06-08-16
Would you listen to Rise to Power again? Why?
Rise To Power reminds me of the book The Red Tent, and brings life into the old biblical tale of David.
Who was the most memorable character of Rise to Power and why?
The author's words flesh out the character of David, endowing him with human frailty, pride and desires. The bigger than life hero from the Bible, who faced the giant Goliath, is spread out before the reader in full light, with real life drama that faces all men. The norms for the time were respected, as well as his need for fame.
