virtual voice is seriously lacking

This was my first listen to a virtual voice narrated book. While the positive side of VV might be the ability to add books to the collection faster, I don't believe it's worth the loss of quality. I will be avoiding VV books in the future. In this book, VV didn't properly pronounce Mai Tai, shitzue, A-line, and a few other words. It missed needed inflection and emphasis to convey emotion. But the worst part was constantly getting lost in conversations...a live reader is an actor/actress who has different voices for characters. VV read everything the same. When reading an actual book or on Kindle, you can follow conversations by the formatting. Just listening to this read in the same voice left me frequently unable to tell who the speaker was until the "Trixie said," or "Wes said", lines, and the distraction meant I often didn't enjoy the story because there were delays in figuring out and following the action.

Always enjoy finding a new series!

Happy to find a new cozy with lots of books in the series. I'll continue to listen to the rest, but wished this book which was about 6.5 hours long had another hour or two. There were several places where it felt as though a sentence or a whole paragraph of transition or explanation was missing - story was going along nicely and then suddenly we jumped to another "scene" way too abruptly and I felt lost and as though much more could have been written. And while I don't question and usually go right along with an author's creativity, when the main character knocks the kid out cold with a vase just because he was going to leave her house where he was supposed to be laying low it really was way out of character with the rest of the story. Who would do that? It wasn't for self defense. And then it was just glossed over with no consequences.

Nothing like the rest of Evanovich's writing

I have read all of the Plum series, the Fox & O'Hare series, the in- between books, the Deisel books, and the Motor Girl books. The Recovery Agent felt like I was dropped into the middle of a series without having read the previous books and not knowing any background. The story made wild leaps without explanation that left me feeling lost because i knew nothing about the characters. This would have made much more sense as another adventure in the Fox and O'Hare series. Struggled to enjoy this one.

What could be a better combination than the Great British Baking Show, witches, and murder? I devoured this series and hate that it has ended. The narrator is one of the best I've heard so far too.

Enjoying the series but...

I'm enjoying the series but it's hard to hear "Willamette" Valley mispronounced by a character that lives in Oregon! (I lived there for a decade). It's will-am-et and not will-uh-met.

Love the story but recording had missing pieces

The story and reading were just fine and I'll download all the books in the series, but this is the first Audible recording I've purchased with errors. I have the actual book in hand, and this recording is missing all of page 114 in chapter 7, and several sentences of chapter 10 are missing as well (top of page 162)
