Historia
Did you know that the remora fish will try to swim up a whale shark's butt when they poop? The crew of Twig didn't. It turns out there was an awful lot the family of five didn’t know when they decided to move aboard and set off for adventure on the high seas. After decades of dreaming, and planning, the explorers finally sailed off into the sunset. Yes, they found the palm trees and coconuts they had longed for, but they also glimpsed the other side of paradise. They ran from waterspouts, dodged hurricanes, got (sort of) robbed by pirates, and played chicken with naval warships. They ...

Fight is the backstage story of bloodsport politics in its rawest form—the clawing, backstabbing, and rabble-rousing that drove Donald Trump into the White House and Democrats into the wilderness. At every turn, the combatants went for the jugular, whether they were facing down rivals in the other party or their own.

No inside scoop whatsoever!
Revisado: 04-08-25
Why is this story a Best Seller? It was a simple recount of the 2024 presidential election. The only inside scoop was behind the scene trivial conversations laden with profanity, that have no place in a historical narrative of non-fiction events. It completely sidestepped the major blunders of the Harris campaign. Very disappointing. Good thing I didn’t pay full price but would like a refund.

Tedious
Revisado: 04-02-25
The book has some entertaining stories but most of it was excruciating repetitive tales. If they were trying to replicate the monotony of driving a truck for 10 hours a day then they succeeded with flying colors.

Historia
In 1996, Beck Weathers and a climbing team pushed toward the summit of Mount Everest. Then a storm exploded on the mountain, ripping the team to shreds, forcing brave men to scratch and crawl for their lives. In this powerful memoir, Weathers describes not only his escape from hypothermia and the murderous storm that killed eight climbers but the journey of his life. This is the story of a man's route to a dangerous sport and a fateful expedition, as well as the road of recovery he has traveled since.

Historia
Belgian detective Hercule Poirot is summoned to France after receiving a distressing letter with a urgent cry for help. Upon his arrival in Merlinville-sur-Mer, the investigator finds the man who penned the letter, the South American millionaire Monsieur Renauld, stabbed to death and his body flung into a freshly dug open grave on the golf course adjoining the property. Meanwhile the millionaire's wife is found bound and gagged in her room. Apparently, it seems that Renauld and his wife were victims of a failed break-in, resulting in Renauld's kidnapping and death.

Agatha Christie is brilliant. She gives a full description of all the characters and there’s no unexpected new item inserted at the end to solve the mystery.

Historia
For decades, Amy ran. Through the dirt roads of Amarillo, Texas, where she grew up; to the campus of the University of Virginia, as a student athlete; on the streets of New York, where she built her adult life; through marriage, motherhood, and a thriving career. To outsiders, it all looked, in many ways, perfect. But Amy was running from something—a secret she was keeping not only from her family and friends, but unconsciously from herself. “You’re here, but you’re not here,” her daughter said to her one night. “Where are you, Mom?”

Not enough focus on others impacted
Revisado: 03-17-25
Good to bring out more awareness of women being abused by men in their inner circle. As so, Ms Griffin should donate all proceeds charities focuses on helping survivors that don’t have her means to successfully deal with the issue. The book mostly focuses on her and not enough on the impact on others. How did her father cope? What happens to Mr Mason? The intense focus on her classmate Claudia only shows the selfishness of Ms Griffin, as she can’t be of any legal help and Ms Griffin could be sending her down the rabbit hole she’s coming out. The topic deserves attention but I got the feeling it was being told by a rich kid that is just bringing attention and money to herself and not the problem.

Historia
In 1973, Norma Cobb, her husband Lester, and their five children pulled up stakes in the lower 48 and headed north to Alaska to follow a pioneer dream of claiming land under the Homestead Act. The only land available lay north of Fairbanks near the Arctic Circle where grizzlies outnumbered humans 20 to one. In addition to fierce winters and predatory animals, the Alaskan frontier drew the more unsavory elements of society's fringes. From the beginning, the Cobbs found themselves pitted in a life or death feud with unscrupulous neighbors who would rob from new settlers.

Taming Alaska
Revisado: 03-12-25
Interesting story but the narrative is long winded. Less anecdotes or condensed versions would have been better. The kids are integral part of the narrative but only briefly mentioned at the end about how their lives turned out.

Interesting but too long to develop
Revisado: 03-08-25
The book started with a bang but then got tedious. Too many intricate details that are difficult to believe were available through Hill or research. The book is more of “fiction based on a true story” than a “non-fiction” narrative of events.

Guide for future Mover
Revisado: 03-05-25
Interesting life. If the author included more of his personal life with the moral dilemmas encountered and written it as a memoir than it would have been quite good. Instead he choose to write an excruciating detailed description of what it entails to be a Mover. Some of the stories were amusing and even touching but too much missing on what life on the road is like. It would have been interesting to learn his perspective on the decisions made and their repercussions. The Epilogue instead focuses on more details about what a Mover’s job entails.

Historia
They say that only truck drivers experience the true grandeur and landscape of America. In A Trucker's Tale, Ed Miller gives an inside look at the allure of the work and the colorful characters who haul our goods on the open road. He shares what it was like to grow up in a trucking family, his experience as an equipment officer in Vietnam, and the trials and tribulations of life as a trucker. His tales are often funny, sometimes sad, cringeworthy, or unbelievable. Many are the results of what he calls "just plain stupidity."

Misleading title
Revisado: 03-03-25
Interesting life of Es Miller but title of synopsis make it seem that it’s about 60 years on the road. It seems he spent more time behind the desk at a trucking company instead of behind the wheel of a truck. The first two chapters and painfully slow. There’s no explanation of why or when he went from trucker to management. Some tales are amusing, many are not.
