more encouragement for working moms
Revisado: 03-16-20
It's a good mix of examples, tips & tricks and encouragement. Even if you aren't a working mom, the content is still applicable as most moms, working or not have similar feelings of not being or doing enough. It's just a bit I've read before, hence the lower rating. Definitely best if followed up by utilizing her website.

Historia
Thousands of people leave Christian ministry every month. They have not lost their love for Christ or their desire to serve him. But for one reason or another, they are exhausted and simply cannot carry on. Christopher Ash knows this experience all too well. As a pastor of a growing church, and then in his role training people for ministry, he has found himself on the edge of burnout a number of times and has pastored many younger ministers who have reached the ends of their tethers.

Historia
Toby Maytree first sees Lou Bigelow on her bicycle in postwar Provincetown, Massachusetts. Her laughter and loveliness catch his breath. Maytree is a Provincetown native, an educated poet of thirty. As he courts Lou, just out of college, her stillness draws him. In spare, elegant prose, Dillard traces the Maytrees' decades of loving and longing as they live cheaply among the nonconformist artists and writers that the bare tip of Cape Cod attracts.

Love, boredom and freedom
Revisado: 02-14-18
An interesting novel that seems to coax the reader to look at love from the perspectives of cynics, purists and the non-chalant. A 'don't fence me in' mentality with strong undertones of loving unconditionally, this is a story of friendship that never really finishes or starts but rather jumps in and out of timeframes.

Historia
She used to work for the US government, but very few people ever knew that. An expert in her field, she was one of the darkest secrets of an agency so clandestine it doesn't even have a name. And when they decided she was a liability, they came for her without warning. Now she rarely stays in the same place or uses the same name for long. They've killed the only other person she trusted, but something she knows still poses a threat. They want her dead, and soon.

Safe, unrealistic, boring
Revisado: 09-15-17
Meyers stays true to her writing style, but the plot was just too predictable and unrealistic. A deep loathing for the sappy male love interest was also distracting. Probably better suited for older teens.

Spy secrets work
Revisado: 10-25-16
Where does The Like Switch rank among all the audiobooks you’ve listened to so far?
It's pretty far up on my list, but I really enjoy books that make me think and challenge me to change the way I've always done things.
What’s an idea from the book that you will remember?
I will always remember to look for non-verbal cues that someone I am talking to is comfortable or uncomfortable. Also that empathic statements work!
Any additional comments?
This is a great read for anyone who works with people on a daily basis, especially those who serve their community. It will help you strengthen your people skills and learn new ones.

Overwhelming, but essential
Revisado: 10-25-16
This book is essential if you are in an abusive relationship, concerned about a loved one who might be in an abusive relationship, or working with abuse survivors.
BUT, it is a very tough read at times because it can get very depressing to hear how abusers behave and the impact it has on the lives around them.
Take it in pieces, but read the entire book.
