Very predicable main character story lines. The writers seemed lost as to what direction to take. Most of the book doesn't move the story forward at all. The writer starts to explain history and side stories but abruptly abandons them in odd places where a real human would never let it go. Far too many illogical thinking scenarios and people, has you rolling your eyes because a dragon wouldn't bother to go along with 90% of this. This whole book could be 1 chapter.

Best book I've read in A very long time

Six of Crows - 9 out of 10 stars. Some of the best writing I have seen in a while. Very different plot, world, characters and twists. Extremely engaging book from beginning to end. So good, I immediately read the second book. Also, the writer doesn't get lost in spewing flowery words just to fill up the pages, or let you stew in fictitious misery for too long. Highly recommend!

The book was needlessly disturbing. I wanted to stop listening several times. I only kept listening to find out what happened. Not worth it. No redeeming characters.

This was nothing more that Debbie Downer Does Solstice. It was as forgettable as it is relevant to the overall storyline, only more miserable. If you weren't a drinker before you started, you will be by the time you're done.

Historical fiction based on a true story about a real heroine.

Likeable people in a dark part of history, told in a tale based on real people and events. Good writing. Heart wrenching realities of war. People we should never forget. All put together in a tale that you won't want to put down, and will have you thinking long after you finish.

Another Fforde Favorite

Always a wonderful escape into a different world. Built to make you laugh and look at our own society structures and rules. I read this in one sitting. The long awaited sequel to Shades of Grey, this wrapped up the first story beautifully. As always, extremely well written, very imaginative, and throughly entertaining.

Best book I read all year. K.H. delivers a deeply insightful story about a piece of our history too often forgotten and diminished. Following a women who loses her brother in Vietnam, snd wanting to make her family proud, she becomes a nurse and enlists. Her life altering experiences serving at a MASH hospital are as harrowing as her eventual return to civilian life. This book will force you to understand things you never knew these women soldiers faced. And will make you question if we are doing much better today.

A good book by R. Y., but not as inventive as Fourth Wing. Characters are more likeable, buy somewhat not believable. Overall the plot is good, but a little slow moving, and too predictable.
