Historia
Former Hanover County Sheriff Buck Lawson leaves the mountains of North Carolina to take a job as the police chief of the small South Georgia town of Mercy, and soon finds himself in over his head. For one thing, his predecessor has been murdered...Buck has inherited an unsolved homicide, a house that may well be haunted, and a police department that is almost certainly corrupt. It falls to Buck to free an innocent man and bring the former police chief’s killer to justice while wading through the quagmire of incompetence and dishonesty that permeates his office.

Good Story

I do not like the character of Jolene and family. It keeps me from wanting to read the next book. She's always angry and condescending. She was the same in prior Ball's books. Too bad.

Historia
“Jesus - the Jesus we might discover if we really looked,” explains Wright, “is larger, more disturbing, more urgent than we had ever imagined. We have successfully managed to hide behind other questions and to avoid the huge, world-shaking challenge of Jesus’s central claim and achievement. It is we, the churches, who have been the real reductionists. We have reduced the kingdom of God to private piety; the victory of the cross to comfort for the conscience; Easter itself to a happy, escapist ending after a sad, dark tale. Piety, conscience, and ultimate happiness are important...."

All About Israel
Revisado: 03-28-25
He says very little about Christians, only Israel. He does not justify there will be no Rapture. The author has his own take on Jesus which is interesting.

I am so very tired of 'Aunt Pegs' attitude and the voice of the narrator. The narrator sounds like an affected teen and I always want to tell 'Aunt Peg' to leave. Now!

Of course the words of Jesus are perfect. The narrator - bless his heart - is bland and rote. The narrator has no inflection. He would like an off key machine. I can't finish it. I will read it myself.

No one disputes their celestial glory — dazzling, dramatic, and perhaps somehow meaningful. But how? What is it about the 12 major constellations in our night sky that has captivated almost everyone throughout history from ancient stargazers searching the skies with naked eyes to modern astronomers scanning the stars through incredibly powerful telescopes. There are those who claim the stars give each of us personal information based on the date of our birth. But we know better, of course. Are the positioning of the stars entirely random? If so, why do they tell such a powerful story? Is ...

No Proof
Revisado: 05-08-24
Interesting Reading. The suppositions for what the characters of the Hebrew alphabet are best guesses, at most. God could have made signs in the sky but using the pictures of the Hebrew Alphabet to put together a whole theory ? I do agree the OT does predict the coming of Jesus and has great relevance to the NT. The Jewish feasts and rituals I do not believe are pertinent to Christians. Yes, gentiles used pagan holidays and turned them into Christian' Holidays leaving behind the pagan ideas behind them. That's a good thing, no?
