An egotistical, rich bourgeoisie brat supports and sympathizes towards a group of communist demon worshippers, and then, shocked Pikachu face, (slight spoiler) they betray her. Don't get me wrong, both sides are bad but the lengths the character bends over backwards to justify helping them would be unbelievable if we weren't in current year.

A pretty fun continuation of a fun story. While the main character's decision at the end was rather regrettable, it's a good thing someone was there to prevent him from intentionally creating problems for himself.

I've read the first two books so far, they're both great at keeping my interest. The character build is interesting and his power escalates in somewhat unpredictable ways especially in the second book, but that's not always a bad thing.

The story itself is interesting even if it seems a bit roundabout. Just wish the author wasn't going miles out of his way to make an undead corpse seem attractive, especially when it seems to be the main active love interest in the first book.

Overly Political

Starting with the good:

- The narrator's performance is great.

- The move from haremlit to actual one on one romance is a good breath of fresh air. It's not that haremlit is bad, but it's a potentially overcrowded genre. The usage of some of the genre's better points to create a more focused, self contained love story can actually be done really well, and parts of this book do it successfully.

- The lamia lead is well done, and the voice actor does a surprisingly good job at not making the hissnunciation annoying.

And ending with the bad:

- Authors will always insert parts of their politics into stories they write, and when it's done well, it can even get a reader to see things from another point of view and change their minds. This was not done well, and I'll be honest, it was frustrating enough to read to the point where it was sometimes a struggle to get through.

-- What was done so badly? Well, for one thing, it's the same trope of recreating 10 different political issues from the last 200 years, and with no nuance, replacing the victimized group with another group.

-- Do the authors not see why recreating the civil rights movement, replacing all of the aggrieved races with monsters, then repeatedly bringing up the fact that monsters can kill people through s*x, or have no control over their s*x drive / might force themselves on people might make some people question your real motives? What connections are you trying to make about the real world? Obviously I don't think that's what they're trying to say, but this is beyond parody how they're practically writing a textbook argument against their own political positions.

-- If this is how badly the involved authors handle politics, and they are going to insist on including them in their books, I think I'll pass on future books from both, which is sad because I did like some of both of their writings.

-- The second book actually starts out significantly better. The authors manage to restrain themselves from bringing up politics for several hours, and develop the catgirl endearingly, all before whacking the reader over the head with the same, tired and badly done politics that I had hoped they'd learned from in their first book.

- The main antagonist can be described as a superkaren who creates every problem for herself then blames others for it, with some racisms thrown in. If it weren't for the political bs mentioned above, this could be forgiven, and could even be satisfying / entertaining to watch her downfall to some, however just like the politics it's handled with about as much care and thought as it takes to shove it in the reader's face as if to say "isn't this person bad? This person's bad. We're going to keep making this person more and more cartoonishly evil while refusing to allow the main characters to resolve the issues before they escalate to a nuclear level."

Pretty good, with an annoying plot hole.

It's a decent, quick, and fun story. The characters are decent, other than the fact that the main antagonist is cartoonishly evil, which is fine, and noone likes birds THAT much (??).

My only real annoyance is, the literal first scene she (the harpy) is introduced in, she establishes the fact that she can transform between a harpy form, and a fully human form. Later, she even switches between the two in front of the main character. Then, suddenly, in the last 2 hours, it's suddenly a plot point that she's constantly stuck as a harpy form in order to get them caught, and there's no explanation, it's treated as if that's always been the case. Then, later, she "gains" the ability to transform back and forth as if it's some kind of new ability unique to her that she's never had. There was even an easy way the writer could have explained it (as something related to her current condition at the time as it worsens), but instead it's just a glaring / annoying plothole.

Again, it's still a fun, quick, potato chip style book that I'd recommend, it's just a bit annoying in that aspect.

Great, other than two CRITICAL issues

First of all: The standard stuff is fine, the writing quality, general creativity, performance, action, etc. All are between acceptable and great.

On to the issues.

First, and less importantly, don't end an arc in the middle of a book, and for that matter, don't introduce a multi-year time jump in the middle of the book with a few paragraphs to explain "how I took over the ****". (I doubt that's a spoiler to anyone reading this, but just in case). It screams of poor planning, and is extremely jarring to the reader.

Speaking of jarring to the reader, let's talk the second major issue. I'll try to keep this as spoiler free as possible, but it is technically a spoiler. You can't introduce a romance in 2-3 paragraphs as part of the summary of previously mentioned time jump, then, with even less interaction than that between the two, kill the romance off one chapter later. Especially for established characters. If this really is your extent of being able to write romance, I was right when I wrote my review of the first arc when I said you just shouldn't touch romance, because this is one of those cases where nothing is better than something. It's just a lazy way of motivating the character to leave the ****, but it's done at the expense of a huge majority of the author's credibility due to how sloppily and lazily it was executed.

A better mix of progression and fluff

I was a bit critical about the last Bad Guys book as it seemed to be mostly busywork with only a little progression and even less meaningful fluff, feeling like consuming potato chips, a feeling that has followed many of the recent books. One thought was, the books need to break away from the prescribed 10h limit and use that to give the series a bit more meaningful progression and entertaining fluff, while I doubt that feedback was even read, I feel that this book incorporated some of that naturally, providing a significant amount of story progression, fluff, and didn't leave me feeling like nothing happened (as if I just ate a bag of potato chips). in addition, there is actual fluff. fluffy fox tails, to be exact.

Enjoyed the book, though there is very little interaction outside of the three main characters. I get that it's a post apocalypses book, but a bit more interaction with other characters could help. Also it seems a bit transparent to introduce the next love interest the literal next page after the first "fluffing" scene. Just seems a bit transparent / could have at least waited until after they wake up the next morning. I still think it's good if fluffy vixens getting fluffed are your thing.
Also, pet peve but I'm pretty sure it's pronounced "kit-su-ne" not "kit-sun", and the plot point about men finding them unattractive seems unrealistic.
