A Book Brought to Life
Revisado: 04-07-15
This was not only a very touching set of stories but a journey outside of my own mind and into someone else's. I appreciate the thoughtful narration as a departure from the audiobooks I normally listen to, usually narrated in a monotone voice. Stevens definitely followed his grandpa's advice by leaving something behind that could not be written on a headstone. I thoroughly enjoyed this book. The narration made me feel as if I were in each story.

Historia
It is a world where men wake up with laser beams for eyes and wives play sadistic practical jokes. It is a world where body parts randomly fall off and fathers turn into antelopes. In this world, vampires and spontaneous combustions are a constant threat. The Overwhelming Urge is a collection of bizarro flash fiction, containing ridiculous characters and absurd stories reminiscent of David Lynch and Franz Kafka.

This is what living in Ohio does to people
Revisado: 12-10-13
Where does The Overwhelming Urge rank among all the audiobooks you’ve listened to so far?
Considering the only three I have are from the same author I suppose I'd say number two. Go download them all.
What does Andersen Prunty bring to the story that you wouldn’t experience if you just read the book?
I find it so gratifying to be able to listen to the words as he intended them to be read. I have read the actual book but I find that I read it so incredibly fast wanting to know what the next horrifying outcome will be (and sometimes being met with completely normal ones). Being able to listen to Mr. Prunty helps me pace.
Did you have an extreme reaction to this book? Did it make you laugh or cry?
I laughed, cried, and several bodily fluids leaked from orifices which will remain unidentified for the purpose of this review.

Historia
My name is Andersen Prunty. I'm happiest while napping. I am a man with tennis shoes. They get older every time I put them on. This is how I deal with the pain of being alive. Now is our chance to deal with our pain together. You'll thank me later.

How did I live without this vital information?
Revisado: 12-10-13
What did you love best about The Driver's Guide to Hitting Pedestrians?
The idea behind the entire thing. At first I thought it was so stupid but when it was over I was begging it wouldn't end.
Which character – as performed by Andersen Prunty – was your favorite?
I just can't choose.
Any additional comments?
Mr. Prunty's books are completely unique in every way. I enjoy how this is so digestible and challenges my every conviction. Just think of the most insane things you can come up with then multiply them by 100 and put it into a book. I love it.

Historia
Boy meets girl. They fall in love. They move in together and start a new life. They're beautiful and they have new things, expensive things, the best of everything, whatever they want. But that's only the surface. Beneath the surface is something much different. Something much darker. Theirs is a love like no other and only one of them will survive it.

Never Ceases to Amaze
Revisado: 12-10-13
If you could sum up Sociopaths in Love in three words, what would they be?
twisted, sexy, cannibalistic
What other book might you compare Sociopaths in Love to and why?
The Bible because there's a lot of necrophilia
Have you listened to any of Andersen Prunty’s other performances before? How does this one compare?
It's really priceless to hear the author's own voice telling his story.
If you were to make a film of this book, what would the tag line be?
For the Love of God: Don't See This Movie
Any additional comments?
I can't think of a better way to spend six hours. The dynamic relationship between the main characters kept me wondering what was going to happen next. I dare you to find a dull moment in this story. When I wasn't almost vomiting I was laughing, when I wasn't laughing I was crying and promising myself I'd stop reading things like this. Exactly what I look for in a book!
