Historia
Facing boredom after his long-postponed knee surgery, Jack volunteers at Fitz Morton Manor to serve as steward, chatting with visitors about the long history of the house. And when the retired volunteer Cyril Roebuck is found dead in the Great Hall, one morning, it seems at first that the dear old man must have suffered a heart attack. But the room was locked from the inside - and it quickly becomes clear that Cyril could not have bolted it. Soon Jack and Sarah are confronting the odd mystery of the locked room... and what must be - in fact - a case of foul play.

Historia
A decade ago Special Forces warrior Jason Morgan parachuted into the Central American jungle on an anti-narcotics raid. He'd served with the famous Night Stalkers on countless such missions. This one turned out very different. Months later he regained consciousness in a US military hospital, with no memory of how he'd gotten there. The first words he heard were from his surgeon, telling him he would never walk again. The determined soldier responded, "Sir, yes, I will."

Good, but not great
Revisado: 06-13-22
I like the overall positive message of the book and learned interesting facts about the Air Force weatherman's job, Special Forces, service dogs, and service dog training. The narrator certainly tried to be dynamic with his voice, but the effect was either laughable or cringy--espcially his attempts at Texan and British accents. It would have been better if he had just stuck with straight reading. Narration is a huge part of whether or not an audiobook is enjoyable and this narrator almost ruined this book.

Historia
It's Carnival week in Cherringham, but while most of the locals are looking forward to the regatta, the parade and the fireworks, Jack and Sarah are more interested in the mysterious body that's been uncovered at the archaeological dig just outside the village ... No Roman soldier - but a young man, no ID. Definitely the victim of a cold blooded murder ... from just a few decades ago. It's a baffling cold case - but one that soon heats up when a member of the carnival committee suddenly goes missing. Jack and Sarah investigate - and quickly come up against a wall of silence.

These Cherringham mysteries seem to get better and better! Great plot, good pacing, good characters, excellent narration. I love the relationship between Jack and Sara and how each story follows another in real time, so we get to "live" along with the villagers.

Historia
On the night of the school prom, a young teacher is found dead in the Thames in a drug-related accident. It seems - at first - to be another sign that Cherringham High is spiralling out of control. The new head however is convinced that the teacher's death is suspicious and quietly calls in Sarah Edwards. With her one-time detective partner, Jack Brennan, back in America, Sarah is at first reluctant to take on the case. But when she does get involved, it soon becomes clear that the tragic accident might really be a case of murder - and even Sarah herself could be in danger.

Good book
Revisado: 08-27-19
I greatly appreciate the well-written, fast moving story line that is clean enough I can let my kids listen. The Cherringham Mystery stories always have great plots. The narrator does terrific accents and distinctive character voices.
The only downside is the bias against guns for self-defense. If only criminals were as easy to talk to and take down in real life as they are in these stories where Jack Brennon can magically out talk and out manuever the villians, even when they are armed.
