returned half way thru
Revisado: 07-01-20
the narration was ridiculously dramatic. the plot never thickens. the story spans about a day, but I feel like it took me a year to listen to the just half way point. ba paris has let us down on this one but as a favorite of mine, I'll still be eager for her next!

King of Torts starts at CH45
Revisado: 06-21-20
I bought the double book mostly because I wanted to read(listen to) King of Torts directly following The Summons. The fact there was a bonus book was just a nice perk.
So- because it's annoying to have to hunt for it: If anyone wants to skip to "the second one" in this twofer... King of Torts starts on the file marked CH 45 in your download

Historia
Clara Kelley is not who they think she is. She's not the experienced Irish maid who was hired to work in one of Pittsburgh's grandest households. She's a poor farmer's daughter with nowhere to go and nothing in her pockets. But the other woman with the same name has vanished, and pretending to be her just might get Clara some money to send back home.

Loved this book and the performance. It's crazy to imagine how tough it once was to move up in social classes.

Not bad but not Pillars or World
Revisado: 03-27-18
While the story was well written, it didn't hold my attention like Pillars of the Earth or World Without End.
I'm not disappointed- but I was ready for it to be done about 2-3 hours before it was.

Historia
Mark, Todd, and Zola came to law school to change the world, to make it a better place. But now, as third-year students, these close friends realize they have been duped. They all borrowed heavily to attend a third-tier, for-profit law school so mediocre that its graduates rarely pass the bar exam, let alone get good jobs. And when they learn that their school is one of a chain owned by a shady New York hedge-fund operator who also happens to own a bank specializing in student loans, the three know they have been caught up in The Great Law School Scam.
