Historia
After nearly eighteen months at Basgiath War College, Violet Sorrengail knows there’s no more time for lessons. No more time for uncertainty. Because the battle has truly begun, and with enemies closing in from outside their walls and within their ranks, it’s impossible to know who to trust. Now Violet must journey beyond the failing Aretian wards to seek allies from unfamiliar lands to stand with Navarre. The trip will test every bit of her wit, luck, and strength, but she will do anything to save what she loves—her dragons, her family, her home, and him.

Historia
Asher Todd comes to live with the mysterious Morwood family as a governess to their children. Asher knows little about being a governess but she is skilled in botany and herbcraft, and perhaps more than that. And she has secrets of her own, dark and terrible—and Morwood is a house that eats secrets. With a monstrous revenge in mind, Asher plans to make it choke. However, she becomes fond of her charges, of the people of the Tarn, and she begins to wonder if she will be able to execute her plan—and who will suffer most if she does.

Strong women in alchemy? Say less
Revisado: 01-21-25
I really enjoyed this book. I had to restart it halfway through to get a better grasp on the characters but that’s on me for listening while distracted. I’m glad I did though! There’s love, betrayal, magic, alchemy, strong women doing the best with what they’ve got in life & plenty of ambition. I only wish there were more books!

I find that this book in the series lays some of the most important foundation for understanding the books, & it was a wild ride! Love these books.

Your newest fantasy series obsession
Revisado: 05-29-22
This book was great. Favorite since the first & third. This series is my newest obsession after the Cradle series. I can find similarities to all my prior fantasy series favs: The Cradle series, King of Crows, King of Scars, (p much all the Grishaverse), The Bear & the Nightingale, the Eragon series, even Fablehaven. Especially, though not a series, Priory of the Orange Tree. If you haven’t read the books I’ve mentioned & love this series, you’ll love them too. I’m 24, f, & obsessed with losing myself in strong female / empowering / coming of age fantasy series with audible. This is a must!!!

The Winternight Trilogy introduced an unforgettable heroine, Vasilisa Petrovna, a girl determined to forge her own path in a world that would rather lock her away. Her gifts and her courage have drawn the attention of Morozko, the winter-king, but it is too soon to know if this connection will prove a blessing or a curse. Now, Moscow has been struck by disaster. Its people are searching for answers - and for someone to blame.

My favorite trilogy series
Revisado: 09-21-21
These stories mean so much to me. I’ve listened to them several times now, & each time I come away feeling like I was just given a glimpse into a magical world, & mourn the loss. The moral struggles between characters & their religions & spirits as well as politics of medieval Russia really leave an impact. I love the horses & mushroom spirits, & fall in love with morozko and vasilisa more & more each time. Empowering, raw, mystical & more :’)

Surprised me with the right amount of cringe romance to make it spicy, but not annoying. Main characters are liekable, & it gets action packed towards the end which was a nice twist. I liked it :)

Historia
The Overstory unfolds in concentric rings of interlocking fable that range from antebellum New York to the late 20th-century Timber Wars of the Pacific Northwest and beyond. An air force loadmaster in the Vietnam War is shot out of the sky, then saved by falling into a banyan. An artist inherits 100 years of photographic portraits, all of the same doomed American chestnut. A hard-partying undergraduate in the late 1980s electrocutes herself, dies, and is sent back into life by creatures of air and light.

Profound, disturbing, enlightening, humbling & more
Revisado: 07-23-21
I was lost at first, then once the stories developed I was captivated. I have a degree in environment & sustainability, & these messages hit hard. They remind me of the beauty of natural systems & soil, the complexities of humans & our view of natural resources. This book leaves you thinking about morals, disturbed by several events, but also satisfied. It’s a lot but it’s really good.

In a time of Covid, family secrets are reviled
Revisado: 07-17-20
This story was a mind trip! At every turn, I was with the characters trying to discern the truth. On one side, it’s a heart warming story of an old man who finds company during lock down with his supposed long lost grand daughter. On the other, dark secrets & scams are reviled. At the end, I feel satisfied. I was scared, I laughed, & wanted to cry. It’s a good story! :)
