I did not like having an AI reader. It brought no emotion to the read and took away from the story. I had to force myself to finish listening because of it. The story, however, was short but nice.

Decent story but it was not captivating

A tad gory but good…

I like this series so there was no surprise to me that I liked this short story. It was action filled but a tad gory. I guess I didn’t expect the guy to have such a rough time. But all in all, the story kept my attention throughout.

Loved every minute of this…

The story was suspenseful, the audio was great, and I loved the dialogue including the humor thrown in. That was nice for some laughs in the midst of drama. I don’t understand the negative reviews but then, I do enjoy full cast productions, as well as this type of horror. I respect that others do not. I hope a sequel or similar productions follow.

Held my interest for awhile…

And then I started to drift. The story started fine but then seemed to go on and on with different plot strings. Unfortunately after awhile, it was barely holding my interest. I finished only because I refused not to.

Just didn’t do it for me…

Listened through the end but it was hard. The story started off pretty good but I soon found it hard to keep up with the characters and the plot line, in part because I didn’t feel either were compelling enough. It wasn’t terrible and I was able to stick it out to the end, but it was a struggle. Of course others may find the story a good one. The narrator did a good job though so all wasn’t lost.

Very pleasantly surprised

I really like these types of stories - where modern day people find themselves in a world or time they didn’t expect to be in. Seeing what they have to deal with and how they do so is interesting. And I really, really liked this book. Why? Because it delivered.

This, fortunately for them, group of military personnel found themselves thrust into an unknown world that was filled with beings that could wreak havoc on their lives and cause nightmares. The resulting fear factor (trudging through the unknown), suspense, loss, perseverance and triumph kept my attention from beginning to end. The character interactions seemed reasonable and what one might expect to happen in such a situation - which served to pull me into the story.

The ending was satisfying and left me wanting more. In short, I thoroughly enjoyed this book and expect to also enjoy the next book in this series. Kudos to the author for an enjoyable read.

Boring…a painful listen

Unfortunately, the story nor the characters did a thing for me. It was a struggle to listen. It read like a mostly sterile novel from back in the day. The narration wasn’t great either. I had to speed it up a little; fortunately that helped. I cannot recommend…

Cute but target audience is children

I didn’t really dislike the story but being an adult, I was definitely not the target audience. I think the book would be great for children. The book is educational, entertaining, and the voice acting is good. If I were a parent, I’d get the book for my children.

It was a struggle but I finished it...barely

The story started off with promise but started digging a whole not long after. As someone else said, the heroine was so lacking in intelligence/ common sense that it was a struggle to finish the book. She made one stupid decision after another that impacted her happiness, other characters lives, and my enjoyment of the story. I forced myself to listen in hopes that she started to make sense. Wow, a fruitless effort on my part. I didn’t mind the narration, so no complaints there. Some parts were unbelievable too. Bottom line, I would not recommend this book, but I’m hoping the author learned a lesson and doesn’t create similar characters in the future.
