Historia
John Bishop isn't your typical single dad. Reserved, impatient, and utterly clueless. Running the family's bed and breakfast has many perks. Working long hours, picking up after the guests, and hearing couples going at it all night long aren't any of them. Hooking up with girls who come to the ranch for horseback riding lessons? Best perk of them all. That is until a baby shows up at his doorstep with a note claiming it's his. Leaving the bachelor life behind, his only priority is to hire a nanny who can teach him a thing or two about parenting.

I caught the attention of a monster. I didn’t ask for it. Didn’t even see it coming. But the moment I do, it’s too late. Killian Carson is a predator wrapped in sophisticated charm. He’s cold-blooded, manipulative, and savage. The worst part is that no one sees his devil side. I do. And that will cost me everything. I run, but the thing about monsters? They always chase.

This was f’n weird.
Revisado: 04-26-25
Performance: Glynn’s VA did great. Kills VA sounds too old to be 19 and you can tell he struggled voicing Glynns parts. But I also feel like if you have multiple VAs they shouldn’t need to cross parts?
Story: this sh*t was weird as hell. I didn’t know what I was expecting. I bought it on sale after seeing it on TikTok and I feel like the only people who would genuinely enjoy this are ppl with blood play kinks. But I think I hated the relationship between Killian and Glynn because so much of what he did was so violating and violent and non-consensual. I feel like the author just danced over that by being like “we’ll kill can read body language and she obviously wanted it” like ick. That’s the same excuse used by r*pists around the world. Also him saying over and over again that he wants to f her in a pool of someones blood was weird and disgusting.
Then you have sick in the head Glynn who lets this loser torture her while being like “omg do I like this? I can’t believe I like this?” But her no should have been listened to. Even if she talked to her friends about her “fantasy” that was a conversation that should have been had with her partner before engaging in the way they did. I had to skip through multiple seggs scenes because it was cringey and some of them were down right disgusting. Her v card scene made me want to Von. I also don’t like that she “found her power” in giving up her choices to Killian. That was cringe to me.
I didn’t like either character very much at all. Killian isn’t likable. Glynn is bland and unlikable. The only positive thing I can say is that this book set the other story’s up to weave into it nicely.

Ugh.
Revisado: 04-09-25
I wish this book would stop jumping around to other delvers perspectives in Minkala. I don’t care about what any of them are doing and frankly can’t keep track of who is who anyway. It makes it tedious.
On top of that this author is writing about things that should be fast pace and exciting but the way they write gets boring and makes it feel like they are trying to hit a certain word count. We get it, what’s her face has a grand kid and wants to gain immortality to watch him grow up. Why do you have to say it in 5 different ways? At this point I get it’s the authors style, but I think I’m fed up with it at this point. These are action novels but they move slower than molasses.
Books 6/7 should have been one book and would have been if the author stopped going on tangents.
Also I agree with the person who was annoyed by Aster. If we are being really honest, at this point all of the characters are 30-45 years old and have been stuck at 20 the entire series. Matt and Liz never acted like children. I get that they obviously have to grow up fast, but the author gets by with very little character growth by making the books very plot and action centric, but at this point even that is starting to fail.

When summoned to a fantastical world and granted powers by a broken System, most freshly minted protagonists would strap on their big-boy boots and get ready for their stats to start climbing. But Fischer isn't like most MCs. In fact, he doesn't want to be a hero at all. Fame? Fortune? Power? He had enough of all that in his old life. Discovering forbidden fishing techniques and petting every cute animal that comes within scritching distance? Now that's a good time.

How men portray men’s thoughts about women.
Revisado: 03-12-25
My one qualm is that the author constantly talks about how “tiny” Maria’s body is. That’s how you can tell the author is a man. He can simply hug her. He does have to pull her tiny body that fits so perfectly next to his. It’s cringe. I found everything else about the book nice.

The Narrator is always fantastic
Revisado: 01-18-25
I can never fault Shirtaloon for his plot or his world building. He does both flawlessly.
My one frustration with this book is literally pointed out by the author himself on multiple occasions and it gets annoying that he falls into doing it anyway. The whole series has been this way and it’s getting old especially in the serious scenarios it happens in. What I’m taking about is having the characters stand around goofing off and bantering when there is a life or death thing happening and they need to act.
Jason is in the process of dying and being taken over by un-death and his friends fall into bantering conversations over and over again instead of helping. Nik even says at one point “and standing around here having a nice chat will do nothing” and it’s responded to with? Correct. Banter. It made me want to chuck my phone. I would hate to have friends that sit around joking while I’m in the most pain I’ve ever been in and trying to keep them and everyone else in my soul realm from being erased from existence.
It would be nice if the author would pick up on that.

Great Plot!
Revisado: 01-13-25
Like all of the rest of the books, the author does a fantastic job with plot and world building. The only reason I gave this book a 4 instead of a 5 is that it gets annoying when you’ve finished a chapter and the chapter right after it recaps the chapter you just listened to. Example chapter 51 to 52 we already know that Jason just spoke to Dawn about the bridge and the authority from the builder. Why does the author need to take the first 5 minutes of the chapter to recap the whole previous chapter?

My best friend is uptight, gorgeous, the greatest person I know … and I might be a smidge in love with him. Just a small amount. Barely worth the mention. Which is a stupid choice on my part when the guy is straight. Starting a landscaping company with him was the perfect mix of doing what I love and an excuse to spend time with him, only it hasn’t completely taken off yet and now he’s telling me he’s lonely.

Penn is me.
Revisado: 10-31-24
If someone told me Penn’s character was based on me, I’d have believed them. Late 20’s. Half black/half white. Always feeling like I didn’t quite fit. Having limited friends, feeling lonely, and wondering at what point an acquaintance becomes a friend. Feeling jealous and territorial over people who I do consider to be mine. All of the ugly parts of myself that I hated and thought of as wrong or bad are in Penn and I’m shocked that I actually really liked Penn because those are all things I hate about myself. I wish they dipped further into his background.
I like Madden most of all the guys in the house but he came off quite selfish in this book. He supposedly loved Penn so much but decided everything had to be his way and Penn had to either fall in line with his wants or needs or they wouldn’t work out. Penn is already going through such a big adjustment recognizing his sexuality that I don’t find it fair for Madden to not be willing to consider Penn in any of the choices he makes and rather he just tells him “this is how it’s going to be,” with no compromises.

The characters pissed me off.
Revisado: 09-19-24
I’ll rate at I go but the characters drive me nuts. You got Robin who allows his ex to manipulate him knowing who his ex is. Fool me once shame on you fool me twice shame on me. How many times can he get fooled? At som point it’s his own fault. I also hate how his family and friends manipulate Dair into thinking he was in wrong? Because he what? Saw the guy he liked kissing someone else and then didn’t drive him home after because Robin said he didn’t want to go in the car with Dair? They act liked like it was HIS fault Robin didn’t give him the time of day to talk.
Emery- has death threats and refuses protection. Has a break in where he has a mug thrown at his head and tries to refuse getting the cops involved. Has his car blown up, refuses to involve the FBI. RUNS FROM THE GYM WITHOUT HIS SECURITY DETAIL instead of fessing up to the fact that other people are in danger instead of asking the gym to pull security tapes to figure out who was in the locker room. Maybe tell Scout he’s in danger instead of taking off like a wacko. Also Scout??? “What’s a pin?” Wtf do you mean?? Hurry tf up and get in the car!!!!! Also is he stupid. Why did he throw his weapon away? Why didn’t he secure the gun right away? Good lord. Can they stop being idiots? Are some of the issues in the relationship Scouts fault. Yes. He should have told him about Aquarium. He should have kept it professional. Emery is annoying though. He hit and quit and forgot Scout but then got mad when Scout said they should wait until the job was done. Then he boohoo’d when he didn’t really even get rejected even though he treats everyone he comes into contact with as a hit and quit. Pot meet kettle.
I like Mika and Swifttogether but I can’t stand Mika. I hate that Emery tried to out Swift at his job and was pushy about it??? That was so gross of him. Also as soon as Imogine came near that door with Dale outside he should have shut the door in their face. Bree should not have been his concern in that moment. He should have put the kid first and cut it off IMMEDIATELY. That pissed me off he should have never let Dale get a look at her or let her say a thing to him. Mika is an idiot. What do you mean what are your options? Like any regular human, your only option is to tell the police. He’s an idiot. These books are so hard to listen to for how dumb these people are. If Mika made my kid cry like he did with Swifts daughter he’d never be allowed around again.
I’m sick of the damsel in distress small little baby trope.
