Historia
Barons is the story of seven corporate titans, their rise to power, and the consequences for everyone else. Take Mike McCloskey, chairman of Fair Oaks Farms. In a few short decades, he went from managing a modest dairy herd to running the Disneyland of agriculture. Mike benefited from deregulation of the American food industry, a phenomenon that has consolidated wealth in the hands of select tycoons, and along the way, hollowed out the nation's rural towns and local businesses.

Extremely disappointing.
Revisado: 10-09-24
This covers some really important material. Unfortunately, The author prefers propaganda to precision. As somebody close to the agricultural industry, who recognizes the need for change in agricultural policies, this was terribly disappointing. There are numerous misstatements, exaggerations, and falsehoods.

Historia
The Colorado River is an essential resource for a surprisingly large part of the United States, and every gallon that flows down it is owned or claimed by someone. David Owen traces all that water from the Colorado’s headwaters to its parched terminus, once a verdant wetland but now a million-acre desert. He takes listeners on an adventure downriver, along a labyrinth of waterways, reservoirs, power plants, farms, fracking sites, ghost towns, and RV parks, to the spot near the US-Mexico border where the river runs dry.

completely listenable, interesting and nuanced. I have assigned this as one of the options for my class. Really, really enjoyed this. it's workable for everyone, but I especially recommend this to people in the agricultural industry.

Terrible.
Revisado: 07-21-20
Imagine the joke, "why did the chicken cross the road - because he wanted to get to the other side." but told in 8 hours. I kept waiting for the conflict but this is just a terribly boring story about someone who stole some books... If you were expecting some of the excitement from first versions of Grisham, this is NOT that.

Historia
In The Righteous Mind, social psychologist Jonathan Haidt explores the origins of our divisions and points the way forward to mutual understanding. His starting point is moral intuition - the nearly instantaneous perceptions we all have about other people and the things they do. These intuitions feel like self-evident truths, making us righteously certain that those who see things differently are wrong. Haidt shows us how these intuitions differ across cultures, including the cultures of the political left and right.
