Amazing Characters, Heart Pacing Storyline
Revisado: 04-13-25
This is for sure going to be a new favorite series for me. I read this in literally three days. I could not stop thinking of it. This book was such a fresh of literary fantasy type of breathe. In a world of overly used tropes, stab first think later heroines, shadow daddy characters it was soooooo nice to read a story that was complex and addicting. Ashoka and Shakti both have my heart. The side characters and the plot lines were absolutely amazing. There was so much emotion and intrigue in each chapter. I cannot wait for the next book!!!

Historia
London, 1888. As colorful and unfettered as the butterflies she collects, Victorian adventuress Veronica Speedwell can't resist the allure of an exotic mystery - particularly one involving her enigmatic colleague, Stoker. His former expedition partner has vanished from an archaeological dig with a priceless diadem unearthed from the newly discovered tomb of an Egyptian princess. This disappearance is just the latest in a string of unfortunate events that have plagued the controversial expedition, and rumors abound that the curse of the vengeful princess has been unleashed as the shadowy figure of Anubis himself stalks the streets of London.

The mystery was great, the better of the series so far. But the characters- besides Veronica who I adore- like Stoker and Figgys tenacity. Chapter 15 was amazing, all the feelings!!

Such a Feel Good Story
Revisado: 12-30-24
This book was phenomenaly cozy! It took me some time to finish, but once I picked it up again I could not put it back down. Tao and her journey of self discovery, living how she wants, and coping with her past and confronting her future was truly amazing. Kina and Mash and Silt are definetley great friends that will do anything for Tao and each other. Fidelitus and Laohu also add such a funny comic relief to the story as well. Each character comes to terms with who they are and who they want to be while banding together. We need more found family stories and with perspectives of diverse characters like Julie Leong has in this wonderful story. The narrator did a great job, her voice wasn't really for me, but it was nice to fully immerse myself into the story.

Beyond Amazing
Revisado: 12-12-24
This book was beyond amazing. Full of emotions, thought provoking moments, and characters that felt real. You could feel the weight put on Hazel, saw the change in Leo, grew to love Euphemia and so many others. You felt the exorbitant amount of years Merrick had and he truly felt like an immortal. Hazels journey was so layered and full of so many touching and hard moments, and that ending had me in stitches. This book took me by surprise and I wouldn’t want it any other way!

The characters
Revisado: 10-24-24
Haven’t read a book with such detailed and amazing characters in such a long time. Each character brought so much emotion to the story. Even though I would grow angry at Kidan, Suseneyos, Yusef
and Slen I found myself holding my breath whenever they were in danger. The plot was amazing but the characters really made the story a 5/5 for me. It was amazing to see characters that look like myself. It was inspiring to see them on page shining brilliantly even if their most flawed moments. I cannot wait for the second book!

Revisado: 09-09-24
The story was so well done. Ayelith was such a detailed character. I felt for her, and there were many many times where she surprised me. The twists and characters were so entertaining and the drama and heartbreak was so intense. Can’t wait for the second book!!! I loved every bit of this book, literally took the weekend to read it and I’d do it all over again.

Captivating
Revisado: 08-28-24
This was even better than the first! I’m so glad Keera got to know Nikolai, Syrra and the others more. Each character shine and their unique relationships with Keera shined even more. I feel like I got to see Keera’s character develop more in this book, along with her relationship with Riven. The changing settings and twists along the journey and that ending!! I can’t wait to pick up the third book. This is becoming one of my favorite series of all time. The depth and detail to characters and their struggles, wins and losses are what really add to the story.

There's just one glaring caveat: her zoo's breeding program hasn't functioned for a decade. When a tragic phoenix heist sabotages the flagship initiative at a neighboring zoo, Aila must prove her derelict facilities are fit to take the reins. But saving an entire species from extinction requires more than stellar animal handling skills. Carnivorous water horses, tempestuous thunderhawks, mischievous dragons.

Revisado: 08-19-24
I loved the characters and the birds. Archie, Bix and Rubra have my heart. Each character and magical bird had their own identities and the development was amazing. Loved the romance and friendships in this book. Social anxiety and mental health were very well represented. I adored this story and wanted to take my time reading this book-it wasn’t easy since it was such a page turner!

Creative Story
Revisado: 07-29-24
A very creative story with a unique magic system and lore. Raeve is unfortunately annoying for most of it and abandons a big portion of her mission. The ending did help me start to feel for her. Kaan was a pretty good character but if he let on with some information it could have saved some characters some time. I liked Veya lot. But she didn’t have a unique voice, sometimes I had to remind myself I was listening to her POV and not Raeve( not because of actions, but mostly word choices and phrases that seemed to be shared between two). Also would have preferred the more explicit scene that comes up at the beginning to be more consensual (both characters seemed to be in two different places based of the past and what was known/not revealed). The book didn’t have to be 700+ pages, and more editing would have been nice. I can say that the time and effort for this book alone was something nice to see and experience since Sarah A. Parker had been writing for so long. I liked the flowery more descriptive writing style she has, some people were turned off by it, but it put a unique voice to the narration.
