Not what I expected
Revisado: 09-23-24
The story was so different from the movie as I was expecting. The story was not as good. And I was less invested.

Historia
Tyler Blackwood is definitely not making it to work on time. When he steps into the path of a speeding car, he’s whisked away by a flaming bird to a perilous realm of shapeshifters and magic straight out of ancient myth. He’d always wished for a chance to redo his life—but not like this. Immediately kidnapped by monsters, Tyler is rescued by Kalistratos, a ruggedly handsome rogue with the power to shift into a phoenix. Sticking by his savior’s side—even if Kalistratos wants nothing to do with him—is the only way he’s going to find a way back home. And it’s the only way ...

Just was not for me
Revisado: 08-28-24
The story dabbles into ideology that just is not for me. If I had known that the story centered around a man’s ability to get pregnant, I would not have chosen the title. The writing in and of itself is a bit elementary as well. The author consistently fails to put attributes into dialogue forcing the reader / listener to try to figure out what character is speaking before getting a sense of each character’s individual voice. Compounding these issues the virtual narrator does not have the voice quality to deliver emotion and has difficulty heteronyms like bow. Just overall not a good reading / listening experience for me.

Just Not For Me
Revisado: 04-23-24
I felt like the author was arrogant, and preachy. The Author definitely likes to stereotype other types of people. And the virtual voice lacked quality of tone.

Historia
Deep in the African rain forest, near the legendary ruins of the Lost City of Zinj, an expedition of eight American geologists are mysteriously and brutally killed in a matter of minutes. Ten thousand miles away, Karen Ross, the Congo Project Supervisor, watches a gruesome video transmission of the aftermath: a camp destroyed, tents crushed and torn, equipment scattered in the mud alongside dead bodies - all motionless except for one moving image - a grainy, dark, man-shaped blur.

Depends too much on Cast
Revisado: 01-25-23
As a production, the work depends on the reader being able to determine all the characters by voice. The production uses no attributions to tell the listener who is speaking. The work can be difficult to follow at times, particularly when the main characters are not driving the story.

The Product Depends on Prior Knowledge
Revisado: 01-09-23
The production makes following the story difficult. The director seems to bank on the listener having had either seen the graphic novels or the Netflix series. With so little in the way of narration, the listener is left guessing at what sound effects are supposed to represent. The director is also depending on the full cast to let the listener know what character is speaking when, but some of the voices are too similar to identity without attributions.

Needs More Dialogue, Less Narration
Revisado: 12-01-22
I really felt that the narrator needed to let the characters tell about themselves and each other through dialogue. Narrators are could for action. Characters should give exposition.
