More than a million American airmen were involved in air fighting during World War II. When Eighth Air Force aircraft were lost due to enemy action over Europe, the statistics on American airmen accumulated as follows: • Over 26,000 were killed in action. • Over 130,000 became prisoners of war. • Over 7,000 were permanently disabled or hospitalized. • Over 500 were interned in Sweden or Switzerland, neutral countries. • And, over 5,000 evaded capture by the enemy after they were shot down! Great Story, Weird AI
Revisado: 03-14-24
The story was great! I really enjoyed it to the very end. I wish it was read by a real person however. The AI I think did an alright job for being what it is. it did pronounce abbreviations as they were spelled and it took a moment to figure out. It did use inflections to emphasize certain things, but the inflections were misplaced or words or sentences. As I previously stated, it did an ok job but it would have been better if a real.person read it

Historia
For the first time, the full and complete story of the B-17 Flying Fortress Susan Ruth is shared in unbelievable detail. Author Steve Snyder's story of his father, Lieutenant Howard Snyder, and the Susan Ruth crew, provides in-depth details about many aspects of World War II few understand or know about.

pretty good
Revisado: 03-10-22
Performance was pretty good. Overall story wasn't bad. The writing just seemed to bounce around between different crews and people. Decent snap shot for the most part.

Historia
Between April and July 1944, Truman Smith flew 35 bombing missions over France and Germany. He was only 20 years old. Although barely adults, Smith and his peers worried about cramming a lifetime's worth of experience into every free night, each knowing he probably would not survive the next bombing mission. Written with blunt honesty, wry humor, and insight, The Wrong Stuff is Smith's gripping memoir of that time.

Historia
When Henry Forester is shot down during a bombing run over France, the World War II pilot finds himself trapped behind enemy lines. In constant danger of discovery by German soldiers, Henry begins a remarkable journey to freedom. Relying on the kindness of strangers, Henry moves from town to town-traveling by moonlight, never asking questions or even the names of the people who help him along the way. Each day brings him closer to home, yet every step in enemy territory invites new dangers.

This a is a great story!
Revisado: 09-03-20
This book has always been my favorite story. This is the one book I have read cover to cover more than once. I picked this story as my first audiobook to try because I knew I at least loved the story. The narrator did a great job!
