Presents Many Useful Tools
Revisado: 01-03-24
I really enjoyed this lecture series. I have worked in the high tech industry my entire career and over time I have seen the negative effects of stress on people's lives. Some people handle stress better than others. I think many could use the tools presented in this lecture series to make their lives more satisfying and fulfilling. It is important to work through the exercises – practice is important. As stated in the lectures, small things done consistently are more important than big things done infrequently. Basically, you need to build healthy habits.

Historia
This landmark account of the U.S. Navy in the Cold War, Who Can Hold the Sea combines narrative history with scenes of stirring adventure on—and under—the high seas. In 1945, at the end of World War II, the victorious Navy sends its sailors home and decommissions most of its warships. But this peaceful interlude is short-lived, as Stalin, America’s former ally, makes aggressive moves in Europe and the Far East.

Lots of Detail That I Have Not Read Before
Revisado: 08-29-22
This book provided an insider's view of the US Navy and how it transitioned to its Cold War structure from its WW2 structure. At the end of WW2, the US Navy was a massive force that was perfectly designed to destroy the IJN -- a force that no longer existed. It now faced Cold War adversaries and massive technology changes: missiles, nuclear power, computers, and jet engines.
The author provided lots of detail on both the personalities and the technologies involved in this transition. Many famous names were involved here: Nimitz, Burke, Rickover, Radford, etc. The coverage of the rollout of nuclear propulsion and jet engines was particularly interesting.
I do want to comment on the introduction and epilogue by the author's wife. The author died in 2021. While her contributions were short, they were very touching, You could tell they worked as a team. She can be proud of their effort.

Historia
This riveting chronicle of submarine warfare is the first to cover all the major submarine campaigns of the war, describing, in detail, the operations of the British, American, Japanese, Italian, and German submarine and anti-submarine forces. Beginning with a vivid re-creation of the sinking of the passenger liner Athenia by a German U-boat in September 1939, critically acclaimed military historian Peter Padfield's compelling narrative casts an unflinching eye on the devastating consequences of maritime warfare.

Superb Overview of WW2 Under The Sea

So well done I listened to the book twice! Author's take on Admiral King was very enlightening. Best coverage I have read on German pattern running torps.
