Historia
When Jackie Schuld’s therapist suggested she might be autistic, she scoffed. She knew there was no way she could be autistic. She was in her mid-30s and ran her own therapy private practice. Everything she learned about autism in her Master’s program in mental health counseling didn’t apply to her. She could make excellent eye contact. She could engage in deep conversations. She could attend social gatherings. She could make it through abrupt changes and remain flexible. How could she be autistic? The more she learned about autism — how it internally impacts autistics and how it can...

Relatable for autistic adults
Revisado: 11-08-24
While the narration can be a bit difficult to stay focused. The words of each essay are incredibly relatable. It is validating and encouraging to hear and read about other autistics who experience similar situations. Going your whole life not knowing you’re autistic is traumatic and the process to accept and heal is difficult. I’m grateful for books like these to bring awareness and normalize the reality of being autistic or a neurotypical world.

Historia
Hard times come for all in life, with no real explanation. When we walk through suffering, it has the potential to devastate and destroy, or to be the gateway to gratitude and joy. Elisabeth Elliot was no stranger to suffering. Her first husband, Jim, was murdered by the Waoroni people in Ecuador moments after he arrived in hopes of sharing the gospel. Her second husband was lost to cancer. Yet, it was in her deepest suffering that she learned the deepest lessons about God.

Historia
One of Jane Austen’s most beloved works, Pride and Prejudice, is vividly brought to life by Academy Award nominee Rosamund Pike ( Gone Girl). In her bright and energetic performance of this British classic, she expertly captures Austen’s signature wit and tone. Her attention to detail, her literary background, and her performance in the 2005 feature film version of the novel provide the perfect foundation from which to convey the story of Elizabeth Bennet, her four sisters, and the inimitable Mr. Darcy.

Historia
Because obeying God makes sense to us, in most cases, His laws appear reasonable and wise, and even when we don’t want to obey them, we usually concede that they are good for us. But the circumstances we find ourselves in often defy explanation. When unexpected situations arise that appear unjust, irrational, or even dreadful, we feel confused and frustrated. And before long, we begin to doubt God’s concern for us or His control over our lives.

This was a beautiful look into the life story of a beautiful soul. I related to much and enjoyed it a lot.
There are a few instances within the book where she states “facts” when they are opinions not held by many or an over exaggerated idea that has no verifiable proof.

Historia
Family is difficult because family - every family - is an echo of the gospel. Family can be the source of some of the most transcendent human joy, and family can leave us crumpled up on the side of the road. Family can make us who we are, and family can break our hearts. Why would this social arrangement have that much power, for good or for ill, over us?

I have been wanting to experience this book for a while. This audio drama was incredible and it struck so many cords with me. I’m a late diagnosed AuDHD’er and I’ve always said the electricity of everything was hard to handle. I high Lou recommend this book to all who are neurodivergent or know one who is ❤️
