Fun
Revisado: 01-22-25
The narrator was awesome! I enjoyed the plot progression and the non-gruesome fighting (certainly violent, but not disturbing). The characters were well developed and a lot of fun. There were a few laugh out loud moments and now I’ll never look at goats without thinking of Henry.

Historia
Adventurers seek dungeons for riches. Heroes storm great fortresses. Gods clash far above. Arek cooks lasagna and tops it with a dash of finely chopped basil. An orc who has seen more than his fair amount of fighting, Arek wants nothing more than to spend the rest of his days cooking and away from the chaos of combat. However, when Ming and her group of adventurers hire him as their full-time chef, his plans of avoiding violence crumble. He longs to leave his blood-soaked mistakes in his past, but old friends and foes have different ideas.

Adventure + cooking = 🤩
Revisado: 01-14-25
I’d give this series a solid pg-13 rating for language and violence. (It is so hard to find a clean LitRPG, I was glad to run into this one.) Peter Berkrot did an amazing job narrating this series. Actus had a fun cast of characters and a solid plot line full of adventure. The cooking was never out of place in the story and gave me great dinner ideas. I’d recommend this series for anyone looking for great adventure or if you enjoy those competitive cooking shows, or both!

Historia
In this Pride and Prejudice variation, Elizabeth Bennet unexpectedly inherits a large fortune as the story begins. The effects of this surprising situation are, at first, delightful. Elizabeth is able to provide her sisters with suitable dowries as well as a delightful shopping trip in London. As the realities of her situation set in, however, her male friends and neighbors turn into fortune hunters, swamping her with unwanted attention. After a few dangerous scrapes, Elizabeth decides to try her luck in London, hoping that by keeping her good fortune a secret, she can find a suitable ...

It was a relaxing listen
Revisado: 08-15-24
I’m surprised how far virtual voice has come. This one was one of the best I’ve heard. Yes, pronunciations and inflections are occasionally off, but I didn’t find them distracting.
I enjoyed that Elizabeth and Darcy met on more equal footing. Because of her new wealth and experiences Lizzie is better able to handle Mr. Darcy’s personality.

Seriously?!?!
Revisado: 07-16-24
For the 1st half of the book, suspending belief and enjoying the story for itself was fine. BUT! Good heavens! The last half you’d have to suspend credibility as well as belief in order to enjoy it. The characters are not in (traditional) character and the rules of society (as they were then) are nowhere to be found. The thing that bugs me most is that Mr. And Miss Darcy let Caroline Bingley run their lives and Elizabeth, despite knowing Caroline is a lying harpy, believes her!!! Gah! Yeah…not my favorite fanfiction.

Historia
The Sheep Dragon is a collection of 14 short stories set before, during, and after the first four parts of The Unconventional Heroes series. Each story addresses questions of world-shaking importance like: Is it possible for a young dragon to watch over a flock of sheep without those sheep ending up in his stomach? What do necromancers actually do at necromancer conventions? And what is the best way to deal with a surprise demonic invasion?

Loved the character background short stories!
Revisado: 01-12-24
Fred Burman was so fun to listen to! Estrella’s stories and action are well crafted. I’ve enjoyed the other books in this series and look forward to the next one.
I’d rate this pg-13 for (the elf’s) language and general (not extensive/detailed) descriptions of gore. These are the only things keeping me from sharing these stories with my kids, who would enjoy Timmy and Katie.

Historia
Timothy Walter Bolton - better known as Timmy - has spent most of his life as a necromancer. When he isn't terrorising his enemies, he's plotting inside his castle, which is built on top of lightless chasms filled with nameless horrors and beings of a generally malevolent and megalomaniacal nature. But after one of his latest creations, a zombie hydra-dragon-bear, tries to eat him, he decides that maybe it's time to find a new, less dangerous, career.

Loved it!
Revisado: 12-20-23
The narrator was AWESOME! Berman brought the characters to life and poured energy into the narration. Estrella’s characters and plot (it is an action based story so maybe the action was well plotted 🤔) were well developed. The snarky tone of the story really appealed to me. I’d rate this at Teen for language and gore.

I loved it!
Revisado: 06-24-23
You know a story is good when you’re sad it is over. I took a chance on this book because it was in my ‘suggestions for you’ list. It was right on the money! I would categorize this story as Slice of Life. It had a pinch of fantasy and a smidge of tension. It was perfect. I’d rate it at PG-13 for language early on. I loved the main characters and the villain did an excellent job of being the villain. If you are looking for high adventure at super speed this isn’t the right book…but I’d recommend it anyway.
The narrator did a good job bringing this story to life. No annoying cringy voices to be found here.

Lots of short stories
Revisado: 02-13-23
I enjoyed the well written short stories, though they seemed skewed in favor of more modern alternates than spins of the original for my taste.

When Finlay Ashowan joins the staff of the King and Queen of Daxaria, he’s an enigma. No one knows where he comes from or how he came to be where he is, which suits Fin just fine. He’s satisfied simply serving as the royal cook, keeping nosy passersby out of his kitchen, and concocting some truly uncanny meals. But Fin’s secret identity doesn’t stay hidden for long. After all, it’s not every day a house witch and his kitten familiar, Kraken, take to meddling in imperial affairs.

Delightfully irreverent
Revisado: 01-07-23
The narrator was great, though I didn’t agree with how the cat was portrayed (narrative and storyline. Oh well.)
I enjoyed the ‘Slice of life’ vibe the story had, though with plenty of other elements to spice it up.
I bought it because I enjoyed the sample and don’t regret the purchase. Hopefully the next in the series lives up to the first book.
