Rex does it again

The short story was interesting and fun. It provides a new path for more Rex and Albert stories. The AI narration was OK. I thought it was better than the Patricia Fisher book. I did have to advance the speed, a notch or two so that it did not feel/sound robotic.

Enjoying this new series.

I have been a long-standing, reader and listener of British mystery series. I am enjoying this American series. I’m glad I stumbled across this series on Amazon. It’s taking me a little while to get used to the narrator’s voice. Which is why I gave it four stars instead of five.

Had me guessing

I gave really enjoyed this series by Patricia Wentworth. I had never heard of her or the Miss Silver mysteries. Some I have been able to figure out the killer. But not this one. Well written and well read.

I expected so much more from STEVE Hicks

After having listened through the series of Patricia Fisher, Felicity Phillips, good old, Rex, Harrison, and Alfred. I was so thrilled to find a new author of mystery stories that told clean stories. Like the days of old, no sex, etc. no explicit descriptions, etc. I could barely get through the first couple chapters of this book and had to stop listening. It made me so sad, it would be nice to be able to listen to the story with a clean version. Or read it even.

Love the Dog’s point of view

This is a fun and light story, as well as intriguing and suspenseful. Absolutely love the fact that the author avoids the curse words. It makes it so much more pleasant to listen to.

Wish I could listen w/o cursing

I love to be share my mysteries with my Mother. Like her, I abhor the cussing, which is why I stick to early turn of century when I can. I like Sophia Hannah writing and was first introduced to her via the Poirot series.

Again my on dissatisfaction is the cursing. I wish audible had a version that was cleaned up.

In his later books, Arthur Upfield seem to be using more profanity. That is disappointing.

Narrator difficult to understand

The story after a while was well developed and interesting. However the narrator was very difficult to understand. There were several places that were repeated and one place where the narrator even says on the recording when he started over that he was speaking in the wrong voice. Some editing would’ve been nice. I know the narrator has been around for years, I just feel that his voice was strained.

My only complaint would be that the story had multiple area where the story repeats. A good listen by the audio people would be in order.
