Judging from the title, cover art and description, I thought this was going to be a zombie apocalypse book. But 1.2 books in, the only zombies were background props. Not to give anything away, but I already saw Mad Max and was bored with that, too. Can't go on through all 8 books. One book and 4 chapters in is enough time wasted.

I was so looking forward to a slew of ghost stories. I hit Start, eager to begin.

I heard the first three chapters of each book. I never stayed awake long enough to get through a single story!!
I recommend authors pass on virtual voice and hire talented human narrators. They make or break audiobooks.
If you have insomnia, the monotonous drone will quickly send you to dreamland each and every time.
I was so disappointed.

Ms. Bates, if you hire a talented narrator who can do different voices and read with appropriate emotions, your audiobooks would be awesome! Until then, I'll go back to my tried and true authors who write more fleshed out stories and use excellent narrators. You could learn alot from these authors: N.Clausen, B.Basic, A.Ibsen, and any Scare Street authors like R.Ripley and I.R.Wright.

Nick Clauson books are hard to put down. When you start a story like Cadaver or Broken Sky, be prepared for many sleepless nights. You won't want to stop reading. The story is interesting and unique, the characters and scenes are nicely fleshed out, and the twist endings are always a delight.

The prologue books are very informative. It's an unusual concept to publish the prologue books separate to each boxset, instead of including it in the first book as so many authors do, Very creative. Very smart.

In the Audible books, the narrator really brings the stories to life.

Treat yourself to a Nick Clausen story. You won't be disappointed.

What a refreshing story, very unique, clever and smart. The narrator's baritone timbre, volume, speed of speech oscillates between male and female characters flawlessly. The Grand Hotel: A Novel is the latest addition to my favorites list, a coveted status not entered into lightly.

Read/listen to this story for a refreshing tweak to your imagination while I listen again.

Excellent book. Loved the integration of at least 3 different supernatural beings and 3 organizations focused on the pursuit of paranormal knowledge and/or power. I don't know how to rave about this tale without giving anything away. Read it for yourself to see what I mean. I'm reading all 6 of the Tales from Innsmouth books.

The Haunted Forest Tour is well written with an original plot and story setting like I've never heard before.
Yet it has many familiar elements taken from Jurassic Park and the ever-popular scary woods setting.
The creatures are taken from ancient Greece and China (The Blemmyes for one example), Edgar Allen Poe, and Dune among many other sources. It's all put together in such an interesting and entertaining way that I was really into the story and didn't want to miss a word.

I also love Joe Hempel's voice. He gives wonderful performances every time. Google him to listen to more AB he's narrated.

Darn you, Ron Ripley, for writing such addictive page turners!! And you too, Thom Bowers! Your narration brought the characters to life, made the stories submersive.

Nine books. Fourteen days. NINE BOOKS!!

I'd listen to as much as I could each day. Every morning I'd wake up with the same words on my lips - before getting out of bed, before bathroom break, before my coffee : "WHAT'S SHANE UP TO TODAY?" Now that I read all 9 books, what am I gonna do? Shane, Eloise, Karl, Courtney, Richard: they all became family to me. All 9 stories were great. Well-described environments and fleshed out characters set the scenes for terrifying, supernatural, heavy duty battles that truly made my skin crawl. I really liked that Shane and Richard had badass military backgrounds. I always felt safe with them nearby. By book 3 I was completely hooked.

Well done, Mr. Ripley and Mr. Bowers. After my well deserved rest and after I thoroughly clean my house and do the shopping, I'll be prepared to hunt down your other books and settle in to be transported to another place with new friends from the comfort of my LazyBoy.
Keep up the good work.

WOW. I didn't know what to expect next each time I listened. I listen to Audiobooks before bed, but I could only listen to this story in bits and pieces lest I have nightmares. I needed to dilute this with a little I Love Lucy to douse any bad dreams before sleep. This is one story I'll never forget. Thanks for scaring the crap outta me, Boris!! PS: I started reading Retown yesterday and after 3 chapters I can tell I'll be needing to sleep with the lights on for awhile ...

Detective Harlan Ulrich is a jaded PI with a heart of gold. He treats all souls with respect - living or dead. He solves injustices no one else can because he sees the dead. Before the dead can rest, they need their murder solved and their story told. Enter Ullrich. No matter how terrifying and gross a ghost gets, Harlan is on the case.

Very good paranormal mystery. This must be the 10th Ambrose Ibsen story I've read/listened to and I haven't been disappointed yet.

The only issue I had is the narrator. Kyle Tait sounds just like Casey Kasem. Not a scary voice at all. Jake Urry is the best Ulrich voice.

Now, on to Dressed in Smoke
Detective Harlan Ulrich Series, Book 2
