This is not a bad entry of the series if you care about the other people in the story. i personally think this book should have been marked a .5 or given an alt title/ sub title. Personally i feel disappointed in the entry as to me it felt like i was not getting the story i was paying for or expecting. The performance is as good as a the past entries so if you are this far in you know what you are getting there.

I like the Story, hate the narration

I like the store, it was the lighthearted fun i have come to know when i see Wolfe Locke with a book. The world building was fun and unique, Nothing about this felt like it was just a cookie cutter templet being used to pump out books.

i tried he sample of the narration and thought i can do this. i use Alexa to read kindle books out loud, and i have a sub to natural reader( a TTS program)
so i'm used to a robot reading. but there was something with tis system. I think this is the uncanny valley of TTS. i don't want to turn this into all being about the voice, but the Performance is a major factor in an audiobook. the voice sounded human but was to perfect all the time. with nothing like raising the pitch a little bit to try emotion. (Alexa and NR both do with punctuation).

I can't even finish this book the narrator for the Mc is so unbearable. listing to the print version with text to speech would have more emotion. the story may be great. but I can not do this version. the only reason I will Remer this book is to look up the male narrator and never buy anything else he does.
