Historia
Whether it's absent-minded mistakes at work, a weakness for junk food, a smartphone addiction, or a lack of exercise, everyone has some bad habit or behavior that they'd like to change. But wanting to change and actually doing it - and sticking with it - are two very different things. Dr. Sean Young, an authoritative new voice in the field of behavioral science, knows a great deal about our habits - how we make them and how we can break them.

Only helpful for app creators or advertising/marketing companies
Revisado: 04-11-24
The title says “changing your life” but a large portion job of this info actually seems to be targeted towards people who want to leverage psychology to create apps or ad campaigns. Lots of anecdotes that go on and on and seem to kind of overlap or repeat each other. I lasted until chapter 4 and then started listening to the last 4-5 minutes of every chapter where he gives the exercise for an individual takeaway. Almost all of the helpful info was contained in those 4-5 minutes. This wasn’t a useless book, but I wish the author or publisher had been more clear or upfront about who the intended audience truly was. If you’re a marketer or app creator, this would be extremely helpful. Looking to create stronger personal habits? Look elsewhere.

Historia
Gender identity ideology is about more than Twitter storms and using the right pronouns. In just 10 years, laws, company policies, school and university curricula, sport, medical protocols, and the media have been reshaped to privilege self-declared gender identity over biological sex. People are being shamed and silenced for attempting to understand the consequences of redefining "man" and "woman". While compassion for transgender lives is well-intentioned, it is stifling much-needed inquiry into the significance of our bodies.

Every voter in every democracy must read this book
Revisado: 08-04-23
This is an intelligent and thoughtful examination of the ideology of transgenderism and gender self identification and gives a logical point by point breakdown of why this quasi-religion is a genuine and present threat to the democratic fabric of our society. It is terrifying for the future of free speech and thought in our country, as well as for the countless individuals who have been, are being, and will be harmed by this ideology. Compassion for individual trans people cannot and should not be allowed to override common sense or to compel the rest of society to reorder itself on a foundational, fundamental level that will leave many other minorities vulnerable.
My only criticism of this book was that the author illuminated precious few remedies for how we should counter this corrosive idea. Sadly, that might be the point.

Good, Not Great
Revisado: 01-16-21
I really enjoyed the first half of this book and had high hopes for it but then it kept dragging on and on and on. When all the “secrets” were revealed near the end, they were definitely not worth the wait. The story was tied up too neatly with the modern characters suddenly making leaps of intuition in the last five chapters that they hadn’t been making for the whole book. This was only my second Kate Morton book. I enjoyed the other one more, so I’ll have to consider if it’s worth another credit to give her another chance.
