Story was pretty boring overall. There was no depth to the characters and I didn’t care much what happened to them.

Historia
When first published in 1759, Candide became an instant best seller and is now regarded as one of the key texts of the Enlightenment. Voltaire’s preoccupations with evil and with various kinds of human folly and intolerance found a perfect vehicle in this philosophical tale. A master storyteller, he combined often wildly entertaining action with profoundly serious sense, parodying the traditional chivalric and oriental tales with which his public was more familiar.

Historia
Dave Pelzer was brutally abused as a child by his emotionally unstable, alcoholic mother. She considered him a slave - no longer a boy, but an "it". He was physically and mentally tortured and starved. The outside world knew nothing of the nightmare he experienced behind closed doors, and his father was aware of the abuse but turned to denial and alcohol. The abuse only fueled a determination to survive and become stronger.

Horrifying childhood
Revisado: 07-08-23
This book is difficult to listen to as the torture this poor child tolerated was worse than anyone could imagine. It’s good to share to make other people aware and possibly see the signs of an abused child in their life.

Historia
James, a bright young boy with a sparkle in his eye, wanted to spend a night at the old yellow house on Millard Road to prove a legend wasn’t true. People say that in the early 1800s, a man who collected many rare treasures and strange artifacts went missing with his wife, but no one knows how. It is said that the spirit of the man still haunts the house to this day. Children in the area hear strange sounds when there’s a full moon.

Fun scary story for kids
Revisado: 06-29-23
This was an adventurous story of a bunch of friends who decide to spend the night in a haunted house. Overall I enjoyed this little story, it was more developed than expected!
The narration was a little annoying when the kids voices were yelling as I listen at 1.5-1.75 speed. So unfortunately it can be ear splitting. I'm going to assume a younger child would listen at normal speed and wouldn't find the voices abnormal.
Fun for Halloween if your kiddos like scary books.

Adorable but heartfelt YA romance
Revisado: 04-22-23
I’ve become a fan of MJ Padgett quickly with her YA books with all of the excitement, joy and energy of teenagers without too much of the overblown drama.
This story was absolutely adorable and a good length. So many times authors seem to pop out book after book with short lengths and minimal story. I found this book to be quite the opposite. The characters were well developed and likable, with quite a number but all pretty memorable. The story was about young love, without the sex and drama that so many other books feel the need to add.
Overall this was a fun and cute romance that YA and grown adults can enjoy! Highly recommended for a feel good book hangover.

Different than 1 but enjoyable little romance
Revisado: 02-07-23
After enjoying The Love Project I had to check out the #2 in series , the Hate project. It started out a bit confusing, lots of kids and twins everywhere. Basically Wes and Oliver from #1 got married and had a bunch of kids.
This was a cute little holiday romance, but I wouldn't say it is a #2 to #1 other than the fact the same characters were in attendance.
Why? This story differs in that it read more like a YA than a New Adult romance. Both Clean (thank you Padgett!) but this story is from the POV of a teenager. And #1 they were college students.
The characters in this book were cute but still teens and all of the angst that goes along with it. All that being said, this was a cute little holiday romance sprinkled with some past stories of book 1.
Recommended for fans of YA romance and clean romance.

Cute remix of a classic story
Revisado: 02-03-23
This is a twisted version of the original Grimm tale of Snow White.
Calla Benson is a teenage girl with a secret, once a year she turns into a wolf and hunts. Unbeknownst to her, she has more than that one crazy secret in her past.
This was a fun twist on a classic story, with new POV's and changes in character personalities. Overall a cute story for fans of remixed tales.
Cons- the narrator was a bit dry at times and felt like she was simply reading the book, droning on at times. Overall at a higher listening speed she did a good job.
As an adult the YA part was a little hard to swallow, the quick love and acceptance that wouldn't happen in real life. Yet, wait... this is fiction. So yeah, not an issue.
Fun listen to break up a long week. Good for teens as it's clean and adults who like to re-live childhood stories in a new way.

Adorable love story
Revisado: 01-18-23
Right from the start I loved this cover, how could you not?
This was a cut rom-com story of a girl , Wesley who is determined to never fall in love. However, Oliver has other plans when he picks her as a partner for their Psychology class. We follow their path as they work together in their live project and slowly Oliver melts Wesley’s cold stone heart.
Cute, with a bit of angst. Perfect length and great narration.

Fun and Fantastical!
Revisado: 08-28-20
Fun and fantastical story of a supernatural detective to find herself in a war between water beings. Similar to other fantasy stories, yet I found this one to be entertaining with likable characters and interesting storylines. I would consider continuing on with this story.
