Was it the writing? The editing? The narration? All the above???

Performance: Clearly virtual voice (that's not a good thing). Some of the sentences were both 1st and 3rd person. Several times words were duplicated (eg., with with). In one instance, the sentance should have been (paraphrasing) "He wanted her here", but it read "He wanted here her". Distracting much? And yes, it was clear after the first five times of it being said.... it was her husband's boss. Are virtual voice recordings impossible to edit, or did no one care to see that it was done?

Story: Could have had potential, but felt rushed, and seriously fell flat.

Spoiler alert or two...

The first book in this trilogy was fine. The second one was ok. Then there's this cringe-fest. First of all, aren't the main characters supposed to be close to 30 yrs old, with important jobs for which they have to be super responsible? Also, they are (or were) each other's best friend, and supposedly know each other better than they know themselves...? For knowing each other so well, they sure have zero communication skills, or understanding of the other. And their actions just never line up with their words.

The level of immaturity is off the charts. Eva wants Tobias to ask her to stay (translation: read her mind), but won't say so. Tobias wants her to stay, but won't ask, mainly because she ran out on him when he proposed several years ago, and because he dosn't want to "push" her into staying if she wants to go, being the gentleman that he is.

Eva: "He didn't ask me to stay"... He didn't ask me to stay"... "He didn't as US to stay",,, whine, whine
Tobias: "Eva, I..."
Eva: (interrupting) "No, don't..." as she runs out AGAIN.

The constant thoughts of "I have to talk to him/her right now" keep getting overridden by their inability to abstain from having sex long enough so they can actually discuss what the plan will be for themselves and the baby. (Her idea of reasonable is for Tobias to fly from Montana to London to attend the obstetrician appts) - initiate eyeroll

But, speaking of sex...I like a good sex scene, and none of these were it. CRINGE.. And there were soooo many of them. This author should probably stay away from writing them. Definitely not her forte. Honestly, the narration didn't help. Teddy H. was ok, but Emma W. - nope. There's something sing-song-y about her narration, and not in a good way. Especially during the sex scenes.

Yes, in the end, they had the requisit (sigh) airport scene/happy ending. But with her level of immaturity, selfishness, and lack of decision-making skills, I hope he got a pre-nup.

For those who liked this book... Disagree to agree. (wink wink)

First let me say how much I enjoy XE Sands as a narrator. I love her voice, and the way in which she expresses each character. She's definitely one of my favorites.

About the book itself... Maybe it's my age and/or where I am in life, but it really spoke to me. How many times have I asked myself "what's next"? It can sometimes be overwhelming to think about, especially having to make all the decisions, particularly the hard ones, alone. I love the idea of community, and I would like to create a tight circle like the one between Willa, Bliss, Harriet, and Jane. That kind of support is priceless.

"What to let go of, and what to recieve" has given me ideas of where to start my new adventure.

Thank you, Laura Munson, for this inspiring book. It really does take a village.

The story was basically ok, and I really like Xe Sands as a narrator, but Amy Rubinate...NO. Her style is just so off-putting. Between how nasal her voice is, to the way she pronounces certain words ("me", pronounced "may") It's super irritating.

Not a lot of positives about this trilogy. I'm pretty sure these stories could've been told in half the time if the same things weren't constantly repeated, especially in the third book. I'm also not a fan of the narrator; didn't care for her odd inflections. Glad it was free...

In as much as I love Andi Arndt, even she couldn’t save this book. The story was OK, but the male narrator… yikes. He sounded more like an automated voice with a really, really bad “Scottish” accent. It was a painful listen. To be honest, it was so distracting that it was hard to completely pay attention to the story line.

Book 1, Deceit: Addison and Ollie…
First of all, this book was entirely too long. Extremely painful narration by Lucy Rivers. It sounded like it was being read by Siri (no offence to Siri, but no one wants to hear her narrating a book...) Unfortunately, Shane East couldn’t save it. The writing was far too repetitive. The same things are said over and over again. The only thing that kept me going was upcoming narration by Sebastian York and Andi Arndt…

Which brings me to book 2, Entice:
Seriously, how many times can one character refer to the fact that she was abandoned? By all accounts in this book, hundreds. River’s character was beyond insecure. She sounded like she lived through all sorts of atrocities, which was so very far from the truth. Not sure why such a worldly, supposedly mature man like Grayson would find anything appealing about her. She was whiny, and horribly self-centered. I love Sebastian York, but his character kind of ruined it for me. This book was also unnecessarily long.

Book 3, Conceal:
As always, good narration by Zachary Weber and Andi Arndt (as Jaxson and Willow). This story was at least a bit more plausible and much more of an easy listen. Not as repetitive as the first two books, and not as unnecessarily dragged out.

Based on this trilogy, I am not much of a fan of Ava Harrison’s writing. Far too repetitive, and the characters, particularly the women, are weak and not very likeable.

Something about this story struck a chord with me. Maybe because I’m at a certain age where I long for an experience such as this. I want to know what happens next…

At first, I wasn’t sure about the story. Even after finishing the book, I’m not sure. But it was captivating. The characters were interesting, flawed, but I wanted to keep listening. Still not sure what I think about the ending, but glad I finished.

I’m not even sure how I made it to the end of this book. The writing was, in a word, disappointing. The main characters, considering the seriousness of the situation they were in, made some ridiculous choices. A lot of the dialogue was repetitive. I’m glad this wasn’t the first book I read by JA Huss, because I probably wouldn’t read any of the rest.
