Historia
The domestic cat—your cat—has, from its evolutionary origins in Africa, been transformed in comparatively little time into one of the most successful and diverse species on the planet. Jonathan Losos, writing as both a scientist and a cat lover, explores how researchers today are unraveling the secrets of the cat, past and present, using all the tools of modern technology, from GPS tracking (you’d be amazed where those backyard cats roam) and genomics (what is your so-called Siamese cat . . . really?) to forensic archaeology.

Biased, preachy and overall annoying. Some professors make their subject matter come to life. Others like Mr. Schiffman, completely disembowel their subject matter.

EXCELLENT
Revisado: 12-06-23
I'm not a postmodern thinker. I find postmodernism sad and a little gross. Despite the leftist messaging, I fell head over heels in love with this book. It definitely tested my patience but I held on and about halfway through I knew that this was a book that I needed to read. A book that I could not do without. The storytelling and craft is a thing of true beauty. It makes me want to give The Thousand Autumns another shot.
Highly recommended.

Good info but peachy...
Revisado: 11-04-23
I like hearing both sides. I even like hearing ideas that I strongly disagree with. I get turned off when the ideas presented become overly peachy. I just want the facts. I don't need the moralizing. Also this suffers, like many archeological books and classes, in that archeology is the star and the actual subject matter takes a back seat.
