Great Story, Great Narrator!
Revisado: 08-13-24
I read this in book form several years ago. Loved it. But seeing it on Audible I thought it might be even better to hear it - and hear it read by a British narrator. (I am a Southerner across the pond in TN.)
What a delight!

Liked the premise but it dragged until I no longer cared- or thought I didn’t. And then it ended. Abruptly. I cared about that. Argh!

Sorry I Wasted My Credit
Revisado: 07-20-24
This one was a big no for me. Great narration, yes, but the storyline I found tedious, over-the-top. The only character I liked was the dog.
My feeling is this author can write, yes, but tone down the difficult to believe drama! 🤦♀️

Iris knows she’s adopted, but any questions about where she came from have always been shut down by her parents, who can’t bear to revisit the past. Now, Iris can’t stop thinking about what she’s read on the official paperwork: BABY GIRL, FRANCE, 1939 – the year war was declared with Nazi Germany.

UNFORGETTABLE!
Revisado: 06-19-24
Juliet Greenwood is a word magician. This is one of those rare stories that linger, enriching one’s understanding of something that has gone before - in this case what life was like for some during the Second World War.
Ms Greenwood knows her stuff. Her characters live on the pages; they struggle, persevere, love - a brilliant read/listen!

From USA Today bestselling author, Julie Mulhern, comes a short worthy of the Country Club Murders name. For Aggie DeLucci, former assistant private investigator and current housekeeper extraordinaire, 1975 is turning out to be a banner year. There’s a new man her life, Mac. He makes her laugh, takes her dancing, and makes a helluva salami sandwich. When Mac is accused of theft, it’s up to Aggie to clear his name. She’ll have to polish her slightly tarnished investigative kills and tame her fears (and her hair) to catch the real thief. If this is your first trip to 70s Kansas City, ...

Great story!
Revisado: 06-05-24
The virtual narration sounded mechanical, with lack of inflection, which I had to apply. Distracting and annoying. Ruined what could and should have been an enjoyable read. Definitely not a fan of virtual narration!

Only Rosamunde Pilcher could have written this, could have taken us there, brought that period of history to such light. I didn’t want it to end!

Thought-provoking engrossing. Immersive.
Revisado: 12-12-23
I liked what was most obvious - that not everyone is accepting of failure to fit the mold. And as I’ve been there, if temporarily, I was impressed by the way Ms Kilpack portrayed the shock her protagonist experienced.
Well done, Ms K, and thank you for encapsulating such a touching love story!
