Historia
When a man suffering from a rare disease receives a debilitating head injury, the treatment given him mutates his affliction into a highly contagious virus. As the disease spreads, it first kills its victims and then reanimates them into beings that are compelled to eat ravenously and crave human flesh. In Clearwater, Florida, Steve Wendell is following the stories of people attacking each other, but is unaware of the severity of the situation. When Heather Johansen, a Sheriff’s Deputy who is interested in Steve as more than a friend, tells him the real story of cities being overrun by ...

I love the start
Revisado: 04-22-25
It started off strong but lost steam as the story progressed. It’s a good way to pass time. I didn’t get the adrenaline rush I look for in a zombie book. I didn’t love it. I didn’t hate it. I didn’t fall in love with the characters. I found this story a little predictable is all. But don’t let my experience run you away from this book. You might love it.

Henry never realized he was special. Sure, he’s an engineer who served his country, but when the virus hit, he found himself alone in a nearly empty world. That’s the key, though: nearly empty. There’s no one left who has the technical know-how to make the world run again...except for Henry. For humanity to survive, he will have to rebuild society out of the motley crew of survivors. It might be impossible, but at the same time, Henry has always loved a challenge.

A 14 year old boy‘s fantasy of survival
Revisado: 04-13-25
This has some spoilers.
I wanted to start off with what I liked. The voice acting was amazing. I love the geeky side mentioning role playing games. The rest is what I can only describe as a smut fest written by what I can only assume is a 14 year old puberty filled boy. This horny teen‘s idea of surviving an apocalyptic event means every woman wants to have sex with the man and that they are all okay with it. The first woman to show up had just gotten over getting very badly sick so what does she do? Put on her cheerleading outfit to go look for survivors. She’s described as „fit“ and always wanting to serve the main guy, also, she wasn’t crazy like most girls that like sex(according to the author), she was college student cheerleader raised on a farm. She ends up having to take care of a baby that’s not hers and a whole farm including animals mostly on her own and still have time to fall in love and want lots of sex and be okay sharing her man. Every woman is described as fit, by the way. And the only hope humans have of surviving is to sleep with one of the surviving guys who is a walking cliche: An ex soldier, engineer, who took care of his Mom. Instead of engineering, he fixed cars for the locals. Other survivors in his haram are a female fit Doctor and a fit female soldier type. There are other men survivors but the women only want the one. They go so far as to set up time alone with the guy at different times. My eyes were rolling back in my head. Oh and all of them want to play roll playing games in the future with this man and possibly have lots of babies with him. Yuck. This should have a sticker warning that most women won’t like this book. I don’t believe any of the characters. Honestly I kept waiting for it to get better and to no avail. This book wasn’t for me. But I am sure there are immature guys out there that would love it. Had I liked any of the story I would have given it 3-4 stars because the voice acting was great and I can fast forward the sex scenes. But alas, nothing worth 3 stars were in it.

WARNING: Spoilers: Sad, depressing, and lonely-be prepared.
Revisado: 09-06-24
Warning:Spoilers:
My heart aches for this woman. I do feel that she downplayed her and Holly’s drama and made herself into a more innocent sounding victim; case in point, she tried to erase Holly’s marks on the mansion at every opportunity and also called Holly’s carved initials “scratches” that she had removed.-I feel Holly might have a slightly more accurate description of her and that she might not even be self aware enough to see this as the truth.
She is most definitely was a victim of Playboy but she also helped victimize other women and used Playboy/Hef for housing and other perks as well and has been afforded opportunities and financial gain due to her experience in the Mansion. This in no way downplays how she was used for Playboy and Hef’s gain. Hurt and broken people often don’t make good decisions. All this messes with my head in a dizzying swirl of sorrow for her.
Her voice is dreary, depressing, and lonely. Given her history-I suppose you could say that her voice reflects her history. I’m glad it ended somewhat positively and really hope for her total happiness in the future.
I wish she had gone over all the revenge porn that Hef had and what happened to that after his death and what media and politicians Hef had in his pocket. I would have loved to hear something more juicy that she would had come across that was interesting to Playboys long history such as the rumored Elvis room or other interesting things about long dead and gone frequent visitors to the Mansion. She lays no claim to any part of Playboy as do most women that were part of Hef’s long line of broken beauties making me feel like the Mansion was a mouse trap or a hotel California.
I also wonder how she deals with the guilt of pulling other girls into Hef’s bedroom and thus contributing to other’s victimhood. She said that she did specific things to sabotage other girls from becoming more favorable to Hef and not to protect them but to thus secure a more favorable position with Hef in a phycological type of mental warfare. These psychological mental games she plays with people-mostly Hef, but not always Hef bothers me a lot and I suppose, it comes down to intention on whether or not she did it on purpose or naturally. I don’t feel sorry for Hef getting mentally messed with. I am bothered by the others she mentally messed with and wonder if as a reader, I’m being mentally messed with somehow.
I do feel sorry for her past. I think she played the game well enough to the finish line. I also think I get the impression that she was stand offish-which isn’t a bad thing-and non social even though I feel she tried to hide it. Hef liked to choose damaged, non social, innocents. And by innocents I don’t mean virginal, but people who choose to do hard and sometimes dark things expecting the best outcomes; it’s almost a twisted glass will be half full kind of expectation. I feel she was put in some terrible situations and I hate that she thinks of a Highschool romance as the best she’s ever going to get because she deserves better and I hope she does get better. I finished this book quickly and couldn’t put it down save for one part, but also feel deeply depressed afterwards. I would recommend this but with a warning to be prepared for the sadness that it will give you. I weeped at her father’s death and needed a minute before proceeding with the story. Yep it’s definitely a good story and I am glad she told it. I definitely recommend this read.

Interesting read.
Revisado: 09-04-24
As a young 20 something housewife who watched the show, I was interested to hear this. I am now in my 40’s and see what Playboy is and hurt for Holly somewhat. I know she wants to remove herself from Playboy but the truth is, without A&E and Hugh Hefner she wouldn’t have had the opportunities for her to be doing so well. But I feel she has admitted that. Others were not strong enough to pull out of Playboy without crashing and burning. She is self made and I respect and admire her for all that she went through to get to where is now as well as freeing herself from a horrible situation. It’s definitely interesting as well and I wish Bridget and Kendra would write their memoirs about their time at the mansion as well. I know she would hate to hear that I am still putting her with them as she is honest about wanting to be thought of as an individual. But that show was crazy and Playboy fever blew up because of those three women. I will read her next book to see how she does free from Playboy completely. I also loved the happy ending. I felt this was well written and I kept wanting more. The cover photo is so cute! I am team Holly all the way!

If you can get past the voice acting…
Revisado: 03-19-24
If you can get past the voice acting then it’s a good book. The female voice actor makes a 21 year old female sound like a 6 years old and the male voice actor’s southern accent is insulting to all people with southern accents. I think these voice actors are great if they didn’t do those stupid accents. I cringe every time the female talks and roll my eyes every time the male actor talks. It takes away from the story-which is pretty good I might add.

Wolf-shifter Hugh Lupine simply wants to make it through the month and win the bet he has with his best friend. He's not looking to date anyone, or to solve a murder, but when a breathtaking beauty runs him over (literally), he's left no choice but to take notice of the quirky, sassy newcomer.
