True, as other reviews it is a little slow to start with and get to grips with some of the characters in the complex plot. BUT, stay with it...It is an excellant plot and story line.

What did you love best about Pompeii?
There is a lot of mystery surrounding the original eruption of Versuvius and this book takes you back to 79AD to experience one persons story. If you have ever visited the ruins of Pompeii this book will be a great companion to your memories of this incredible place.
What does Steven Pacey bring to the story that you wouldn’t experience if you just read the book?
Very good narration throughout.

Where does The Afghan rank among all the audiobooks you’ve listened to so far?
As a lover of these types of stories, I have found his book not just an entertaining story but also a very useful insight into some of the political background which has caused many of today's problems. This book ranks in my personal top 10 books ever.
