Historia
Raised as an orphan by her aunt, Chariline has only been told a few pieces of her parents’ tragic love story. Her beautiful dark skin is proof that her father was Cushite, but she knows nothing else. While visiting her grandfather before his retirement as the Roman official in the queen’s court, Chariline overhears that her father is still alive, and discovering his identity becomes her obsession. Both her grandfather and the queen have reasons for keeping this secret, however, and forbid her quest. So Chariline sneaks on the ship of a merchant trusted by friends.

Caroline's narration
Revisado: 05-02-25
I tried. I really tried to get through the book and actually got 3/4 of the way through. But I just could not handle the screechy sound of Caroline's narration and had to give up.

Feel good
Revisado: 03-09-25
I love this feel good series! The girls had their challenges, but they pulled through together. But I am sorry I cannot stand the narration and almost stopped listening several times.

I could relate on so many levels
Revisado: 08-25-24
Throughout most of the book, I actually laughed out loud and giggled, but there were times where reality made me sad as well. I thought this was very entertaining yet a self reflecting book.
Loved the narration!!!!
My only complaint is it was such an abrupt ending.

Is it possible?
Revisado: 09-08-22
I absolutely LOVED the first book in this series. I did not think it was possible to enjoy a sequel as much as I did this one.
It was the perfect length…no that’s not true, I wish it was longer! I just hated to say goodbye to the characters when this ended, but I see there’s a third book in the series and I can’t wait to get started!!!

After a health scare, 77-year-old Barbara goes to convalesce in the sleepy Somerset village of Winsleigh Green with her sister, Pauline, who is now a widow. The sisters are like chalk and cheese - Barbara, outspoken and aloof and Pauline, good natured and homely - so it’s not long before the tension starts to rise. But when Pauline accidentally knocks down a vagrant who goes by the name of Bisto Mulligan, the ladies find themselves with another houseguest.

Sweet🥰
Revisado: 03-09-22
Sweet and entertaining, semi-predictable but a light and easy listen. My only complaint was it was a little too long and drawn out for not having any mystery.

Revisado: 07-22-21
Excellent story about the worlds darkest time. Was told from a different perspective than any book I’ve read about this time in history.
I would love to read a sequel about this couples life after the war.

Good story but....
Revisado: 06-10-21
Good story, but way too long and too repetitive. I listened to the whole thing because I wanted to see how it ended. However, this story could’ve been told in half the time by shortening length and number of love scenes and communication issues.
