No one is more surprised than she to find herself in sixteenth century Scotland.

You've really let us down!
Revisado: 04-19-25
A year ago (2024) I asked you when, if ever, you would finish this series. To which you replied that you had just finished it for release to Audible. Here we are, another year later, and it looks like you kinda fibbed about it. If you ever finish it, I'm sure that, according to the comments, many readers would be buying it.
However, as it stands, you are on my DISHONEST AUTHORS list.

Historia
A highlander from the ancient past, a woman from the present day, and a torrid déjà vu. Jenna Cameron has sacrificed much for her career as an architect, particularly when it comes to love. But when the collapse of a building sends her back to 14th century Scotland, the brawny highlander who finds her changes all that—almost in an instant. Domnall Mag Raith can scarce believe Jenna’s sudden appearance in the enchanted forest. He and his band of brothers once landed there in exactly the same way. Not only does the lass bear the same baffling tattoos as he and his men, but a powerful ...

Virtual voice killed my enthusiasm!
Revisado: 02-02-25
I tried to get into this one, but wound up wasting 5 credits on the series. After about 45 min. I just gave up. William Macleod did such an amazing job on the first two Immortal Highlander series, and I have listened to both of those several times. There is no emotion in an AI generated voice and I really think that when an author starts with live narration, and it works well, they should stick with it. I don't even consider buying ANY books with this phoney narration.
Modified rating:
Overall = minus 10
Performance = There was none.
Story = Who knows...I couldn't listen to it.

Narrator not right for this kind of story
Revisado: 01-15-25
I am used to female narrators who can give a believable male voice. Her voices are all...well, hers. Even a male narrator who can deliver a believable female voice would be better. Antony Ferguson? Dave Geillis? Or my favorite, Tim Campbell.
The story has taken literary license to a whole new level, but it is, after all, fiction.
It's a fun listen...once. I doubt if I'll queue it up for a second listen.

Narrator ruined it!!!
Revisado: 01-08-25
Justine Eyre ruined this book for me. Her narration made me think of a 90-year-old woman on the verge of tears, who cannot tell the difference between a Scottish accent and an Irish accent. Heather McCollum is one of my favorite authors who I normally rate five stars. Sadly, the story is great, but the narration is awful.

Historia
Why we think it’s a great listen: An all-time Audible favorite that mixes historic fiction, adventure, and romance with one of the most fascinating literary devices: time travel. Outlander introduces an exhilarating world of heroism and breathtaking thrills as one woman is torn between past and present, passion and love. In 1945, former combat nurse Claire Randall returns from World War II and joins her husband for a second honeymoon. But their blissful reunion is shattered....

Great writing, but the heroine is hard to take
Revisado: 06-16-24
5/21/24: There aren't enough words to describe this book! It is, by far, the most immersive book I have ever read. And to know that this is just the beginning... OMG!
Update 6/15/24: I'm at the point where C & J have returned to Leoch and I find myself getting fairly disgusted with Claire. She's ultra jealous of Jamie for no reason, while, at the same time, is trying to figure out how to escape back to Frank, bringing up the kiss Jamie gave Laoghaire in the alcove, BEFORE there was a marriage between them (C & J). And earlier, she was very angry with Jamie for enjoying the beating she had earned by breaking her promise to "stay put", when she is the one who has taught him about enjoying pain in the marriage bed. If she keeps this snotty attitude in the next book, I'll probably end up despising her for her selfishness. If it weren't for their sexual compatibility, they don't have anything in common at all.

Narrator needs a day job!
Revisado: 05-12-24
I do not recommend this title! It has a good storyline, but terrible narration. The only voice heard is his own. Men and women are in his own voice. Work is definitely needed on his Scottish burr, also. The story was good, but I was so distracted by the monotonic narration that I actually tuned out several times and lost the story line. I'm considering buying the paperback, but haven't yet made that decision.

I tried so hard to make it through...
Revisado: 05-10-24
...but I just can't. The out-of-breath, overly dramatic narration and the gratuitous sex ruins this series. The stories are 4-star for me, but the narration drops it to 3 stars for the first 5 of the series. This one is not only the final book of the series, but the end of the torture I have felt trying to listen to it. Liisa Ivary's delivery is just so over-the-top that it's an eye-rolling, head-shaking exercise in tolerance. And Stella Knight's plugging in sex scenes where they actually disrupt the story flow, and are not well written, land
this series at the bottom of the pile and one I'll never listen to again.
